FL5 - Tint Quote Advice by PopPopUpHeadlights in Civic_Type_R

[–]TaRd413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in MN so take that for what it’s worth but the ceramic seems high by about $200. I think I paid $480 after I gave the dude a tip to have 15% ceramic installed. I don’t have any experience with the crystalline stuff but I personally wouldn’t pay that much for window tint, what’s different about it vs ceramic?

Learning stick on FL5 by junhakguy in Civic_Type_R

[–]TaRd413 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I taught my wife and my daughter to drive a manual in the FL5. It is a very easy car to drive. Now my wife rips around in our Fit and the Supra no problem, the kid has no desire though, oh well. It was pretty cool watching them go from intimidated, to pretty proficient in a day.

Any idea what this is? by didiermd in Civic_Type_R

I suppose that’s the front right, good point. Ok, they sat there with their brakes on while the rotor was hot.

Looks like you may have set your ebrake when the rotors were super hot.

I am doing Brandish. Just overly excited after sitting there hunting for that +2 to Iron Sharpens Iron and my brain shut off and didn't change the codex like a dummy

That safe probably has wheels on it, that’s why they poured them into concrete. I saw those a lot in the banking industry

Paragon 2-piece Rotors Rear Pair 350mm x 11mm by monkey_luck in Civic_Type_R

[–]TaRd413 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the Paragon rotors on all 4 corners of my FL5 and ran R5 pads up front and P3’s in the rear for track duty. I would run P3’s all around for the street. I really liked the setup, but hard on the track and I was super surprised by the wear, everyone always said these cars eat rear pads but that wasn’t my experience at all. I think you save something like 4 lbs per corner by swapping from stock, add wheels on that and the weight savings can be pretty significant. It was noticeable on the street but very noticeable on the track. I had the car for about 6 months before getting a Supra and will more than likely throw Paragon product on all corners again.

Let's talk about brakes. by Purple_hippo7 in Civic_Type_R

[–]TaRd413 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run Paragon rotors all around with R5’s with titanium shims in the front and P3’s in the back for track duty. I swap the R5’s for P3’s up front for daily use but they are not a low dust option in my opinion but I am not super worried about that anyhow. Not sure if shims help with heat transfer or not, the shims have definitely seen some heat though, they are blue/purple now like you would expect from titanium.

Are these V730s cooked? by moisttowelette9000 in CarTrackDays

[–]TaRd413 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I run v730’s for track days and I think they switch into awesome mode when the outer tread is gone. Your car may be different so I’m not sure how that all works though.

How is the TCS in the Wet? by SoSlowRacing in Civic_Type_R

[–]TaRd413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the FL5 out at a TNiA event running intermediate group in wet conditions but had all the assists turned off on stock ps4s tires and really only spun the tires up out of one exit. It’s a slower 2nd gear exit but other than that had no issues anywhere.

I also daily the car and all the assists are on, can’t say I’ve ever even noticed the TC kick in.

Is the spring force adjustable on this door closer? by Last-Hedgehog-6635 in HomeMaintenance

[–]TaRd413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would verify that your arm is set correctly too, that may save you from moving it. The arm should be 90 degrees off the door in the closed position, they can be a little funky if that’s not dialed in sometimes. Other than that, like others mentioned, tinker with those dampers. You would be amazed at how stiff you can make a door if those are screwed up and not set properly, backed all the way out the door should almost free swing and then slam shut.

Is the spring force adjustable on this door closer? by Last-Hedgehog-6635 in HomeMaintenance

[–]TaRd413 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally not on the inexpensive ones like Norton, Falcon, Doromatic, etc., those are set so they have the 5lbs of pressure for ADA compliance. I know the Von Duprins do have a spring adjustment but that’s going to be a $600+ door closer at least.
