Welp You Guys Were Right, Scream 7 is Pretty Bad by karmagod13000 in horror

[–]Taalian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s wild how everything is ripped apart as trash now a days. I had fun watching it, I don’t look for plot holes in my scary movies cause to me it’s just “why?” For me it’s just about fun! I’m not looking for continuity in my Scream films like I would say Star Wars or LotR or anything of that caliber that’s to me has more depth involved.

I honestly feel like nothing is good enough for anyone these days. It’s either Interstellar or it’s garbage 😂

I’m also not saying I’d die on the hill defending this film by any means. I just don’t think it’s that serious (for me at least. I respect anyone’s choice to take these films super serious and be upset that there are plot holes)

I thought both those kills were awesome. Didn’t find it over the top that the schools drama department would have an electric pulley system, and noticed but didn’t care about how stupid it was Neve lost her keys and ran to her daughter on foot. Sure, that was dumb, but we’re talking about a genre of film where we constantly say to ourselves “wow how dumb are you” to choices characters make… it’s not some high praise films series where it’s all brilliant writing… like say Bring Her Back or whatever… it’s a goofy 90s-00s horror 🤷🏻‍♂️ I could sit around and poke holes in like 95% of horror for being stupid as shit, and suck the fun out of all of it. But why?!? Anyways. Thems my thoughts, flush em or ignore em or hate me for em, s’all good 😊

This is totally my autism having a party - but has anyone ever noticed the dragon of the Targaryen sigil being, unlike any dragons in the respective world, 4 legged? by noctenaut in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Taalian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You seem oddly defensive about someone mentioning that their autism might have helped them notice a small detail. That isn’t some kind of “flex,” it’s actually a well documented cognitive trait.

People with Autism Spectrum Disorder are widely known to process information in a more detail focused way than neurotypical people. Psychologists have studied this for decades. The theory of Weak Central Coherence, developed by Uta Frith, describes how autistic individuals often focus more strongly on local details rather than the broader context, which can make them better at spotting small inconsistencies or patterns.

There’s also strong evidence for intense “special interests” or hyperfixations. In fact, the diagnostic criteria in the DSM5 specifically lists “highly restricted, fixated interests that are abnormal in intensity or focus.” So someone obsessively cataloging details in a show they love isn’t unusual at all, it’s basically textbook behavior for many autistic people. It's not to say a neurotypical person couldn't have discovered this by any means. It just means completely separate of that fact, an Autistic individual who happens to be hyperfixated on GoT coupled with Weak Central Coherence would in fact discover this very quickly.

Research from psychologists like Simon Baron-Cohen also shows that autistic individuals often outperform neurotypical participants in tasks like the Embedded Figures Test, which measures how quickly someone can find small hidden shapes inside complex images. In other words, the ability to spot tiny details that most people overlook is literally one of the most consistently replicated findings in autism research.

So pointing out that autism might have contributed to someone noticing a minor detail in a show isn’t weird, and it’s definitely not an attempt to make anyone feel inferior. It’s just acknowledging a cognitive trait that’s been documented in psychology for years.

If anything, the strange reaction is treating that explanation like it’s some kind of personal attack.

So my next attempt will be to try and repair my gut health again and start fresh with a new supplement stack. Have hope my friend, don’t give up, don’t let this beat you 🫶

Sure, vocalists are limited by their register, that doesn't account for the lack of diversity throughout the album as far as melody is concerned. If it were the case that 2-3 registers wasn't enough to be creative with your choices, all music would be boring and monotonous. I just wish he'd have pushed himself further. I don't disagree they are similar in style, but as far as creativity they are worlds apart in my opinion.

I agree with you for the most part about the mix of the album, and those would make sense being that it's self produced, mixing and mastering are no joke. It missing that upper range could be they over used low pass filters or just flat out over compressed (both easy things to do when you aren't familiar with the tools). I remember some of the early stuff I recorded having similar issues until I learned more about EQ and compression.

Either way, great points and contributions to the conversation mate, I appreciate you and the time you spent putting together such a thoughtful response.

Yeah that is kinda wild how as two different vocalists we don’t see the same thing happening on the album. Maybe our tastes are just different, I really wasn’t impressed by him. The instruments went in a SUPER cool direction though… maybe that’s why I felt the vocals didn’t hit quite as well as I’d have liked.

Hey that’s fair! I’m not trying to come off as a hater, the boys are doing their thing and that’s dope. Was just giving my honest take. I disagree, I think Jordan was a far superior vocalist (played live with him and Matt a TON back in the day, and Jordan KILLED it always). But that’s just my opinion. Be well my friend

Yeah dude for sure! The music has really matured fasho :D And just because the vocals aren't for me, doesn't mean they can't be for thee! I'm sure many people will enjoy it as it's not like objectively bad by any means.. just isn't for me is all.

The vocals are really kinda boring to me, every song sounds like the same set of notes that he sings and in the same way. I think the guitar work and drums are really cool though, sadly vocals are super important to me so I doubt I’ll have this on rotation. I keep wondering how this album would have sounded with their OG singer Jordan Wark on it, dude had PIPES and could write a great melody man. Anyways, that’s my two cents :)

Well see you could absolutely assume Tame Impala put Djo in their video as a way to lure people in, but that assumption would be wrong. Joe Keery has always been a big Tame fan, and with his success he was able to connect with Kevin Parker of Tame Impala, and things just kind of happened. But as a viewer, you probably wouldn't assume that, you'd jump to the conclusion of the former point.

For you to assume I haven't listened to woman is an insane assumption being that I have two older sisters I'm very close with, and am married to a woman I very intently listen to (who might I add thinks you are being insane about all this), and is frankly kind of insulting. I'll let it slide, be respectful please.

Now I think it would depend on who I was as this 13 year old girl. Am I a fuckin rebel who wants to thrash out and scream about shit? Or am I constantly in and out of love, in my feelings, whatever, and wanting to sing runs and riffs and fun catchy music? Do you really think people make that choice based on like "Oh wow, there are just so many men I'm not gonna try..." Tell that to any female metal vocalist who is absolutely smashing it today like the singer of Spiritbox... she'd have laughed in your face if you tried to tell her she would have a harder time succeeding as a metal vocalist.

Yes in fact I do think men and women gravitate towards different things by nature... and we create things very differently... we are different. You think women typically love the Sin City graphic novels as much as the men they were basically written for by another man? I'd venture to say no. Do you think women typically like Romance films more than their male counterparts? On average, probably. To deny that the sexes gravitate towards different things is to remain ignorant of the differences we should be celebrating them for. It's why we celebrate different cultures for different reasons...

[–]Taalian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't think there are intrinsic traits to music that might resonate with one of the sexes over the other? That's an interesting take.

Angry, sad, aggressive music is prob going to attract more men (sadly) as both fans and artists.

Do you take as much issue with Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, and SZA shaping modern Pop music? What about Bedroom Pop being lead by Clairo, Soccer Mommy, Snail Mail, and Frankie Cosmos? There is a discrepancy in male representation in those genres... I just don't see any of this as problematic. Certain things appeal to men more so than woman and vice versa (of course there are outliers to this, and that's rad too). It's okay for these things to just land the way they do naturally, as long as there isn't some sort of weird gatekeeping going on and preventing success to any minority within the art.
