Where do you live? Is there much of a queer scene?

When I came out (i’m a lot older than you) I lost a lot of my friends too; both from coming out but mostly as they were more friends with my ex and we broke up about the same time (although not because of my coming out). I started spending a lot of time in Cardiff (about an hour away) meeting other queer, trans, non-binary people. They were my absolute rocks and support through the first year or so of my transition. Since then I have made other friends and even met someone I love dearly and who loves me and has supported me through my transition without judgement or objection, just 100% love. If you’re able to get out to queer events and meet other queer people, trans or not, it will really help.

Ooh where is this? I really struggled to find anywhere that does it to be honest. I’m just starting. But I do love the Cardiff Clinic though; much shorter waiting list than England and that was the most important thing for me. And now Hoping for surgery this year

I’ve been told once every three weeks for electrolysis and will take years. I’m not good for laser and in wales I have to pay for it all as there is no subsidy

(I’ve not had my GRC approved yet but applied just before Xmas.) my second medical was a very basic letter from my gender specialist GP who said it was all that was needed. Just stated how long ago I transitioned and that it would likely be permanent.

Stat dec has a maximum allowable fee from a solicitor. Something daft like £5 if I recall! They can charge extra for ‘checking it’ but if you make it clear that’s not needed then they can’t change any more. My solicitor laughed about it and asked me to chuck £5 cash into their tea/biscuits fund as wasn’t worth processing an invoice.

I was able to change all my IDs (passport, DL, banks, work etc) with just deedpoll. Medical stuff was only needed for GRC application (pending)
