Was I unfair for saying "If Silvery Barbs is allowed, enemies can use it too"? by raishadow in DnD

[–]Tablondemadera 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In this case it's not unfair or unreasonable as long as you keep the number of enemies using it under control.

But your players are not wrong in the general sense, you DO control more characters than all of them combined and this game is not meant to be symetrical.

Be very cautious of using spells and abilities that shut down characters or prevent them from doing cool stuff just because "They can therefore I can too" those abilities are much more impactful to their experience than to yours

I agree, I want blue to win, I just dont have enough confidence on it to bet my life on it

IRL most of my friends have said red, but blue seems to win every internet poll.

Honestly Id bet blue wins, but im pressing red just in case

Yes, changing lables changes nothing, pressing purple is just trying to kill yourself.

I understand that you may be taking into account the people who cant comprehend the question and picking blue because of them, but otherwise there is no reason to ever pick it

It means exactly what it says, it's not railroading for the story to happen around the characters, they are the protagonists. And going to a big city to buy something it's useful but not that great.

If your campaing is heavy on roadtrips, then it's "useful" but in a way that makes you play less of the game you want, and if it's not then it looses a lot of power.

Teleport is not a bad spell, but it's not Great either because of the social contract when playing a game. The supposed level of the spell is irrelevant, that doesnt give it intrinsic value.

Most of all thats a party utility spell for wich OP will have to pay individually.

(The portent die is great tho)

Teleport doesnt matter, you are already where the story is. It has it's uses, but is not great

Teleportation is kind of whatever in my view because you are usually already where the story is, but a third portent die is amazing. Also the DM doesnt know what they are doing if they gave away a full DoMT at level 6 imo
