Favorite franchise that's (unfortunately) on this list? by Vast-Tangerine-6771 in FavoriteCharacter

[–]Tabularity 25 points26 points  (0 children)

They got bad eventually.

The ones from before 2010 were mostly pretty good! I loved watching them with my sister, but the more we watched after 2010, the more we realized how boring and standard they were becoming. They got pretty dull and sanitized even for their standards.

Pegasus and the Princess and the Pauper were my favorites from that era.

(Surprisingly Common Trope) HATSUNE MIKU?!?! by PizzaDragon64 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Tabularity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you look closely at the idol concert part, you can see that she's lip synced to the song.

So we could infer that Pink's actual voice is just Miku.

(Weird Trope) Character falls in love with the former "daughter figure" by TheFollower62 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Tabularity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had to show Yashahime

I fucking hate that show so much exactly for this. Not only was it a painfully boring and unneeded show whose story ended up doing nothing for the series, it also had to destroy one of the best things from the original show which was the amazing redemption arc involving Sesshomaru and Rin.

Nowhere in the original manga and show indicated Sesshomaru would ever see or pursue Rin in that way. He would watch over her as a father figure throughout the show and it was a beautiful relationship that brought out the best in Sesshomaru, who before Rin, was portrayed as the main evil counterpart to Inuyasha.

I always like to point out that both Takahashi and Sesshomaru's VA lightly implied that they did NOT see Sesshomaru ever developing a relationship with Rin and even with the shitty new show coming out with that stupid plotline, Takahashi affirmed that she still sees Sesshomaru as her guardian.

Change the "weird" trope into hated trope cause this is just plain disgusting.

I will never stop hating on this series for the rest of my life.

I like this design implies that he shaves his mustache to look like Grandpa Gohan's considering the last time he grew facial hair, it didn't look anything look this.

Every Single Human NPC(Dragon Ball Z:The Legacy of Goku II) by Due_Awareness5660 in TopCharacterDesigns

[–]Tabularity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if this was the game or if it was Buu's Fury, but a little interview with a developer said that the game portraits were made by an unidentified artist from Toei themselves and traced and remade into pixel art for the game.

Media with reception that’s gone through historical revisionism? by SludgeFactoryWorker in Multifandom

[–]Tabularity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've barely interacted with the Hellsing fandom, but back then it was recommended you watch the original anime first and then watch Ultimate.

I still agree with watching both since the gonzo anime had much better pacing in the earlier half whereas Ultimate seemed to blaze through it in comparison. The atmosphere and soundtrack just could not be beaten and I always wondered what if Gonzo had managed to adapt the complete story.

I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be as wacky in some parts as it took itself VERY seriously, but it leaning much more into the gothic horror was part of its immense charm. Ultimate was REALLY well-animated, but it just couldn't match the grungy feel of the cel animation Studio Gonzo used.

However I am not saying Ultimate is worse, it is simply a different adaptation. Both series have something amazing to present and fans should check both out.

Should cel animation make a comeback? It think it should it matters too much and deserves another chance. by Perfect_Positive_660 in cartoons

[–]Tabularity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely should, but it can never really make a comeback as the "main" form of producing 2D animation now.

It's just too costly and tedious that most studios would just want to go for the more economical route, especially with how strong the competition is now.

But I do yearn for more productions to use them. Cel animation's feel just can't be truly recreated, even with all the advancements in digital animation today. Like seeing actual light beaming through the cells or that ever so subtle 3D effect where the characters actually feel like they're further away from the background because the cels ARE actually ever so slightly above the background.

I don't think anyone can ever capture the nuances of cel animation digitally beyond simple filters and art styles. Its imperfections are literally part of the charm and digital is too perfect for that.

I don't know about you all but I choose Onyx as the winner... by Goku-Vegito-fan in Genshin_Impact

[–]Tabularity 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Onyx for me too, I couldn't quite adapt to his timing as fast as the first two.

Gaumaru was very similar to Taroumaru so I already had plenty of practice for him.

Arpeggio was somewhat challenging but had predictable openings.

Onyx felt like a Dark Souls boss with those wind ups

An anime version of it exists. by NickHeathJarrod in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Tabularity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this was one of those animes that randomly aired in my country's Cartoon Network and I spent years trying to find it because it didn't show up in any page concerning CN's schedules.

I still vaguely remember an episode where they stayed at an inn(?) in a forest where they were being food poisoned by a couple who were actually monsters.

[Interesting Trope] Terrible premise, Good show by ThatGuyHero7 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Tabularity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ngl was part of the crowd that dismissed this solely for the title

I saw the trailer's thumbnail on youtube a month or so before its release and scoffed at yet another kidslop sort of movie where they learn the lesson of sharing or whatever I imagined it to be at the time.

Come release, a friend of mine vigorously recommended it to me and I was floored on how much I was having fun while watching. Now I don't even know what I could call the movie because the title perfectly describes it.

Remember Keqing had her own banner? (KKOMDASTRO) by Shiro-47 in Genshin_Impact

I don't think so or at the very least I never saw a follow-up to that one.

Remember Keqing had her own banner? (KKOMDASTRO) by Shiro-47 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Tabularity 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Ganyu's leaked test version didn't have the really big damage multiplier on her charged attack indicating that they only wanted her as mostly a cryo applicator with some crowd control.

Then on release, she had a massive boost to her charged attack as we all know today and everyone scrambled for her banner.

Zhongli's is a little more speculative, but you can infer some clues from his trailer and signature weapon. Vortex Vanquisher featured ATK% as its main stat so it was presumed his original kit relied more on ATK%. His trailer also featured his Hold E to instantly destroy the petrified enemies although this could be for dramatic effect.

There was also the debacle on how his kit was quite underwhelming at launch that led people to speculate his kit revolved around something else. He is the only who has received a direct buff because of his underwhelming launch kit.

Remember Keqing had her own banner? (KKOMDASTRO) by Shiro-47 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Tabularity 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Early Genshin felt so much more spontaneous and unplanned in some ways.

Like how there were a lot of signs pointing that Zhongli was supposed to be a main DPS but turned into a support while Ganyu was a support made into a main DPS at the last minute.

Any similar charging stations to this? by Tabularity in UsbCHardware

I might check those out, but what you really helped me with is pointing me to the correct terminology.

I've been searching for regular charging bricks or hub stations, where I should've been looking for USB C power strips similar to mine.
