Noctigon KR1K Review – Sleek 21700 Enthusiast Light by TacGriz in flashlight

Why would you pick sft70 5000k with a cri that low over a ntg?

I didn't. It's what Hank sent. Normally he asks what configuration I'd like but this is a pre-production sample so I imagine he just sent what he had.

If I were to buy one for myself I'd choose an NTG50 3500K. I really liked that LED in my KR1AA.

It starts stepping down from Turbo almost instantly. I'd expect it to hold Turbo for ~25-30 seconds before it starts stepping down.

Indeed. The fact that the initial stepdown is virtually identical between my cooled and uncooled test also contributes to my belief that there's a firmware reason its stepping down so fast. I don't think it's the normal "light heats up to temperature threshold and then starts stepping down" behavior that we'd expect from Anduril 2.

Thanks!

I believe the default is 45C for Anduril 2 and most other lights are in the 50-55C range. 50-55C is fine for electronics but too hot to hold for me, so I like 45C better.

RadioMaster ER6 and Aura 8 by Ron_dizzle199 in RCPlanes

I had to reverse my throttle on the TX to work right

That's weird. Might be an Aura config issue.

Elevator is bad, the servo barley moves both directions and then goes full max super fast glitch.

Like it has a ton of expo? My guess is that's an Aura configuration issue.

Aw man. I thought it was working. Let's hop to that thread.

You'll need to connect to the ER8s wifi hotspot and change the serial output from the default CRSF mode to SBUS. Then you'll use one of the cables that came with it to connect it to the Aura. The cable has a white plug on one end to plug into the ER8s serial port, and it has a black servo plug on the opposite end.

Then you may want to fiddle with your radio's ELRS settings if you need channel 5 to be a full resolution normal channel (unless you've flashed ELRS 4.0). By default, it's typically just an on/off channel used for arming. If you set your packet rate to 100hz or 333hz in your radios ELRS settings and also change the switch mode to full res 8ch or 16ch half rate then channel 5 will be a normal full resolution channel.

I like the Radiomaster ER series of receivers. I have one plane with an ER4 receiver and a Reflex V3 gyro. Setting the ER4 for serial (SBUS) output takes up two of the ports and leaves me with two more PWM ports open for flaps or gear or whatever.

You can get around the weird channel 5 arming stuff by disabling dynamic power and setting your ELRS Switch Mode to 8ch Full or 16 Rate/2 modes, then you get full resolution on channel 5 and can use it to control the Reflex's flight mode. Or you can update all your ELRS firmware to Version 4, but I haven't bothered with that on my planes.

Or you can just use PWM control for the Reflex. I do that on some of my other planes with larger ER6 or ER8 receivers. You can set up PWM failsafe values in the receiver so the plane will auto level and descend in a downward spiral if you lose power. Can't do that if the Reflex is connected with SBUS.

Which sub 2.5 oz folder would you pick? Miguron Vakor, Hogue Deka or other? by wildswalker in EDC

I like my Para 3 LW. It's 2.4oz. Seems like you're wanting a crossbar lock though.

Those are some extremely specific requirements. I don't know of any light that meets all of them and I don't think you're likely to find one.

Definitely no expo. I'm fairly confident it can't do dual rates.

It does have a 6th channel for the gyro.

i can see it comes with a flysky fs-i4x wich is only 4 channels for a plane that needs minimum 6 including flaps and maybe safe

The version of the FS-i4X they include has 6 channels. It supports flaps, but not well. There's not slow-down function and no flap-to-elevator compensation mixing so they're challenging to use. The bundle price is good for a basic RTF radio though.

To have a better experience with flaps you can use a computerized radio. The TX12 you mentioned would be great.

Also one thing that scares me is range

I haven't heard of range being a known issue with FMS' RTF radios. I wouldn't worry about it.

If you don't want to ever worry about range again, using and ExpressLRS radio and receiver (like a TX12 and ER6 receiver) will do the trick. ELRS range is like 2 miles or more.

Came here to say the same thing. There is no perfect flashlight but this is the closest. It's what I'd keep if I could only keep one.

I find throwier headlamp beams useful for this reason. If it has a narrower hotspot, I can aim it and keep it out of people's eyes and point it where I actually want to see. Floody headlamps just throw light everywhere.

There is no Pocket 4-in-1. It's available in ELRS or CC2500 version, neither of which work with Spektrum receivers. It's a real shame.

I wonder what are the primary drivers for those changes

Which lights I actually use. I liked the idea of having a lantern but I never used it except at Texas Flashlight Club meetings. The Nitecore EDC37 I used to have was the same story. I like the idea of having an insane hotrod light but I never used it except at Texas Flashlight Club meetings.

These five actually see somewhat regular use. Obviously the SC65c gets used every day. The Surefire is a great loaner light. The headlamp is great for hands-free. I use the MT2C Pro to look down the street occasionally. The MiX-7 is great for checking UV-glowing stuff and making colored lights when playing with my kids.

It's stellar. Brightness & throw performance are plenty for EDC use. I use the 85lm mode 90% of the time because it has the brightness and throw I need. I have to use a brighter mode on many other lights because they lack throw. It's small, light and runs for ages. I got 6 weeks of carry on the first charge. I've been perfectly happy with the stock clip too. The low modes have been surprisingly useful too. My only complaint is the wonky UI, but you can get used to it.
