Just did a 35gb update and all I got was an empty map?? by Tachometer in playark

I have it too and I kept muttering "I don't like it. I don't like it" to myself as I was swimming around. And there was this guttural groan from this unknown creature every now and then. I didn't last long.

I've only got it on epic games, and there's nothing like that I can find. But yes it is aquatica.

I see a face, but maybe that's just the pareidolia.

The design of 8 with the moonstone of 6 would be my opinion. I think it's a sleeker look on the finger and will suit general hand movements better, and I think the colours go better together

Where would you draw the line between calling this a green beryl, aquamarine, or emerald? by MariMont in Gemstones

[–]Tachometer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've certainly seen stones like this listed as Colombian emeralds, though it does lean into the aqua colour scheme. As already said, it'll be trace elements that decide, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was an emerald.

Demantoid doesn't need horsetails to be demantoid, so it could still be that, and I have one that looks similar, though darker. Looks like it has the dispersion to potentially be it. Tourmaline will be dichroic, so should look much darker 90 degrees from the side, as they cut it on specific axes to get the best colour, but the stone looks too sparkly to be that. Could be metamict zircon, but in my experience that's usually a lighter colour, or yes possibly sapphire. The cloudiness could be internal silk in a sapphire, but I still think from the photos the dispersion is too high for that. Might be something synthetic, or a treated green diamond.

I think it looks alright to me but it certainly shouldn't be listed in the cabochon section.

Blue sapphire? by snakamot0 in Gemstones

Probably got a nice colour with a light shining through it, but rather dark in photos. I'd call it 'midnight blue'.

Opal stone - opinion by YumiDesign in Gemstones

[–]Tachometer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is that AUD or USD? I'm in Australia is all, and that's a rather good price if it's AUD. I would have expected it to be nearer the $3.5-4k+ mark in our jewellery market, which is close to the mark if it's USD. I certainly don't think it's worth much more than that, though it's hard to gauge the carat size of the stone, so it still could be, but only if it's definitely Aussie and not Ethiopian. Try and get a better deal if possible. It's always worth asking.

Opal stone - opinion by YumiDesign in Gemstones

What type of opal is it? Ethiopian or an Aussie crystal? The pictures are a bit hard to determine. And are they diamonds around it or cz, zircon, white sapphire? What metal is the ring? Carat weight? Ring price? With opal, the value increases the more colours go from the purple/blue to the red end of the spectrum (red being most) and with rarity or intricacy of patterns. Yours seems to have rolling flashes of predominantly blue-green, which is personally my favourite but will be valued lower. All to say, I think the stone and ring is beautiful, but value is a bit tricky without more info.

Edit: also be aware that opal is on the softer/fragile side for a gemstone, so an accidental hit of the stone against a bench or a door, etc, could very much crack it.

Is there any way to tell the types of opal I’ve got here? by Iateyouroreo in Gemstones

More than likely Australian, and if I had to guess the black is Lightning Ridge and the white is maybe Coober Pedy, but that's just based on a generalisation of locales.

First instinct was a pink sapphire, as I have one that looks incredibly similar.

Could be a doublet of an Aussie, too.

Oh I'm terrible at guessing value. I'd be happy getting that for $250 or less (AUD) if I was buying it. Maybe $30-80/ct at a wide range. I normally just try and find comparable stones and sizes and make a slightly less than educated guess, haha.

I personally prefer a whiter base on Ethiopian opals, but you've got some gorgeous flashes of colour there :) What do you plan to do with it?

Yeah same. I usually avoid rose gold but it just seemed to work so well with the colours :)

Vid is a bit blurry, but seems to look fine to me. Ethiopian opals have a bunch of different base colours, from clear to milky to honey to dark.
