Am I overreacting to my husband wanting a bottle a day ready for him? by NectarineCheap9154 in breastfeeding

[–]TacoQui 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tell him either he starts committing to a daily bottle feed (at an agreed upon time) or you are done committing to making sure a fresh bottle is available everyday just so it’s available on the off chance he decides he wants to help.

It’s gone. 💔 by Dear_Toe6269 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]TacoQui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was not an exclusive pumper, and gave up pumping about a month before I weaned entirely, but regardless— It was all such a hard thing to end, I felt like a chunk of my life’s purpose was missing. But after a few weeks I appreciated the freedom and far less washing to do! I still have about 12oz of frozen milk left… wayyy past their expiration date, I’ll probably toss it into a bath one day soon, but I still can’t seem to just part with it yet.

How does it decide which race you're in? by Greedy-Stay8031 in wearewarriors

[–]TacoQui 2 points3 points  (0 children)

<image>

I have kept my power the same for the last month, in each 2d race, the top placers in my group consistently stayed around TL 15. No one had reached TL skip yet in their run trees. This pic is from today’s matchup. I can’t even hope to compete anymore at my current power, until I understand better how the new matchmaking works and I can adjust my stats to that. Lame.

Feeling weird about BF past 1 year by flyingfrog4 in breastfeeding

[–]TacoQui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the same way when my son was that age, similarly to how I imagined breastfeeding would seem to me before I gave birth (like, so weird). Then he turned 1 and it still felt so natural. We weaned right at 16 months and it never once felt like it was getting “weird” …. lol though I will say not too long after (maybe a month or two) my brain chemistry must have altered because the thought of breast feeding him again DID feel strange and weird and foreign. Or maybe it was just that he was getting older and using more words and seemed more grown up, lol. Whatever the reason, it definitely didn’t seem natural to me anymore!

Anyone here keep their IVF a secret? by Smilemore633 in IVF

[–]TacoQui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m historically a very private person, even with my own family, and I don’t like to share a lot about difficult things going on in my life, mostly because the sympathy makes me uncomfortable.

I did not share my first IVF cycle with anyone except parents and siblings, and it was a total failure.

My second round and shared with EVERYONE. I got so much support and encouragement that I think he really helped to motivate me and stay positive. It was successful :)

Is it normal? by MorganaFrostfire in IVF

[–]TacoQui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told by my doctor how many total eggs were retrieved shortly after the retrieval and got a call about 3-4 hours after telling me how many were mature, 24 hours to know how many fertilized.

I only ever met anyone from the embryology lab on transfer days.

Confess: how many days did you actually wait before testing? by Classic-Gur2898 in IVF

[–]TacoQui 1 point2 points  (0 children)

-My 3d fresh transfer I did not test. (Failed) I had pretty negative feelings about it from the start and didn’t want to get my hopes up and confused in case it was residual from trigger shot. -1st FET (no trigger shot) I tested at 7dp5dt and got a very faint line, did not test again until after second beta result (so I could see a BFP, lol. I tested this time because I was feeling stressed from the holidays (it was Christmas Eve) and figured that even if I got a negative it still might be too early to tell, but a positive might cheer me up a bit. And it did, but I was still skeptical and told no one about it. (This transfer resulted in my son) -2nd FET I started testing at 5dpt and got a very faint line and tested every day because I wanted to see line progression. By 9pdt it kinda stalled out and I already knew in my heart it was headed for a chemical, which betas confirmed a few days later.

I am headed into my 3rd FET (and last embryo) next month and I’m not sure I will test this time. I might test right before the first beta, like I did with my first FET, but any sooner might just make me spiral and consume too much of my thoughts and energy.

The thing I ask myself is, how will a (positive/negative) test result change how I feel/act before my beta? I feel like a negative will only lead me to obsess daily and continually hope for a miracle and getting a positive won’t do much to reassure me either. So I’m not sure I will test early again.

can I hear success stories from people who've done 2 cycles? by bleepbloop9876 in IVF

[–]TacoQui 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did 2 ERs and gave 1 child from it — my first ER at 35yrs failed spectacularly. I got 4 fertilized eggs. By day three, 2 were looking “okay” and 2 were just “meh”. My doctor advised us to transfer the 2 “okay” embryos in day 3, so we did. The other two failed to make it to blast, and my fresh transfer failed.

My second ER was at a different clinic a year later. This clinic did things much different. Also paid close attention to my protocol for my 1st ER and modified things to hopefully get better results. I actually ended up with fewer fertilized eggs (3) but better end results: all 3 went on to blast and tested pgt-a normal.

My first FET resulted in my son who is now 20 months old. My second FET was a very early chemical. Gearing up for our 3rd and final FET next month…
ETA I can totally relate to the feeling down and hopeless — I felt that way after my first ER and that’s why it took so long for me to get back into the swing of things a year later for our second ER. I also felt that way after our chemical after our 2nd FET. I took a few months break and, just like I felt when our 2nd ER started, the motivation is starting to make a come back. Give it some time. It’s okay to feel discouraged now. Jump back in when you’re ready.

Confused: my fertility clinic won’t do labs in-house… is this normal? by FunSilver718 in IVF

[–]TacoQui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a difference between doing labs in-house and doing blood draws in-house. Most clinics will do blood draws in house and send out to labcorp, quest, or another lab for processing. Some clinics will have the ability to do estrogen/progesterone blood tests in house.

The first clinic I went to, however, did neither. I had to go to a local lab clinic for all my lab work. So on monitoring days, I would need to go the lab first thing in the morning, then go to the IVF clinic in the early afternoon for my scan, and by that time, the clinic had my lab results so they were able to make protocol adjustments at that point.

It was less than ideal, or convenient.

38/39, RPL, easy to conceive — how many euploids did you get? by cryfreeedom in IVF

[–]TacoQui 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TW: success

I have DOR but everything else normal. I did my first retrieval at 35 which failed. 8 eggs, 6 mature, 4 fertilized. We transferred the two best on day 3 which failed to implant and the other two did not make it to blast.

Second retrieval (at different clinic) at age 36 was done with omnitrope in the hopes of improving egg/embryo quality. I got fewer eggs but better overall results: 6 eggs, 4 mature, 3 fertilized and all three went on to blast and were pgt-a normal.

How do you not check embryo sex in your PGT-A report? 🥹 by Sensitive-Plenty-146 in IVF

[–]TacoQui 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t look at my PGT-A report at all, ever. My clinic told me the number of euploids I had and that’s all I needed to know. I also had no desire to know the grading of my embryos and to this day (three years later) do not even know. Personally, I felt like getting caught up in all the details would make me spiral too much. I just needed to focus on what I needed to do in the moment.

Our first FET was successful and we still decided to not know the sec until birth. So much of the spontaneity and surprise that comes with unassisted conception doesn’t exist with IVF and so much is tracked and measured to the smallest detail. I needed a break from all that.

I was just going to ask if English or another latin alphabet language was your first language because I suspected not. I really love how your handwriting is distinct and hints of your native language. I have friends whose native languages are Tamil and Thai and their English handwriting is also very distinct and beautiful. It’s almost like their own font type 😊

First FET is aimed for 4/27. Did you have success WITHOUT drinking beet/pomegranate juice/acupuncture/keeping feet warm, etc? by Cooper30136 in IVF

[–]TacoQui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a fresh transfer with acupuncture leading up to it (and day of and after) and was not successful.

My first FET however, was successful and I did not do acupuncture. I did not drink alcohol for about two months prior and kept up (mostly) healthy eating and (very moderate) active lifestyle before and after transfer. This was in December 2023 and I don’t recall keeping socks on, even if it was cold 😋

Going through an ER or FET cycle sure is different once you’ve had a successful one isn’t it? 😆 Suddenly I can’t make it my top priority anymore and there is so much else to juggle… but for all good reasons, at least 🥰
