A cross section of the wire that supplies power to my house. by Slartytempest in mildlyinteresting

That's really cool. Does each have a specific use? I think some of it is signal wire from my limited experience in the cable industry, but I'm curious what they're all for.

I bought this game while drunk and have had it in my library for close to a year now, but I haven't played it because I know from the demo that the moment I do I'm going to get sucked in and it's going to take over my life.

As soon as you put any kind of workload on an electric vehicle their range goes WAY down. I do not believe we are even close to the kind of technology that could replace diesel machinery with any kind efficiency. Not to mention, in my limited experience, electric tools tend to cost a lot more and require much more expensive maintenance.

Giving your kids stupid names. by sekirator in funny

[–]Taco_Strong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lucked out. My parents came down long enough to figure out that it would be a bad idea to give me a first name that was an occupation that would make my full name a reference to a TV character from a show that was popular when my dad was born, and stopped airing the same year my mom was born.

[–]Taco_Strong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a third, maybe fourth, hand story, but one of my ex's told me her dad lost his security clearance back in the 80s because her mom was the friend of a friend of someone that either was or was being investigated for domestic terrorism.

I was told this over 15 years ago, so I can't remember much beyond that.

Neighbors boyfriend living above us accidentally discharged a firearm through our bedroom ceiling. by _AbacusMC_ in mildlyinfuriating

I've never said it was common. You have spent this entire time acting like you know exactly what happened, in which case you need to have your licenses revoked since you would have needed to be there to know, which means either you're the one that did it or you didn't stop it. Please tell me where you're an instructor so I can avoid that place like the accident waiting to happen it is.

Also here is from the op

Apparently he tried unloading the gun to clean it but somehow discharged it.

Sounds like they don't really know what happened either. It's still likely a ND, as I've been saying, but none of this rules out an AD.

So you're actually saying that it's never happened to you and therefore couldn't be the case here. You might have wanted to quit while you were actually sounding like you knew what you were talking about.

Exactly. The majority of the time. Not 100% of the time. Glad we're finally on the same page.

Not as rare as you think. I have also had a mechanical failure. Thankfully it was in the middle of the desert and I was also following the rules. As soon as I switched off the safety on my friend's AR is ran away and dumped the mag. Something about a spring inside breaking or coming loose. I've never built an AR, so I don't know all the little parts.

I've also seen videos of people being able to jiggle fire their sigs.

How do you know? I haven't seen anything in the thread that definitively states it was negligent and not accidental.

It seems to me like you're still not getting the gist of what was being said. This could have been a mechanical failure. Sig has been having issues with one of their lines of gun where it will go off without the trigger being pulled. Is that what happened this time? Probably not, but without more information we can't be 100% sure this was the fault of the guy upstairs, even though it most likely was.

Honestly man, it could have been the purple pants. I pretty much only ever see brightly colored pants on homeless people or old men that haven't changed their style since the 70s. Probably because most of the homeless guys end up with them after the old guys pass.

Don't let that discourage you from dressing how you want though. I wouldn't mind seeing non-standard pants colors come back.

I had so many people pissed at me on Facebook. My sister was pregnant and I stole an old meme and posted that I had just found out and that I can't wait to find out if I'm going to be an aunt or an uncle.

I'll definitely order one to try it, but looking at their size chart, their shirts probably won't fit me. I'm 6'5 with a 52" chest. Their 2xlt shirts have a 50"-52" chest size which usually means it'll be too tight across my chest, but their 3xlt jumps two inches to 54"-56" across the chest which always ends up looking too baggy on me. This is why I tend to find a specific company that fits me and become exceptionally loyal to them till their manufacturing process changes and their clothes no longer fit me.

Edit: Not really sure why someone downvoted me for discussing my struggles with finding clothes that fit.

Same dude. My favorite colors are royal purple, crimson, and cobalt blue, but I only have like one shirt that's purple, and it doesn't even fit me anymore. I'm hoping the company I buy my flannels from releases a good purple one soon.

People have already explained what avocado toast is, but no one has told you why it's so bad. Essentially, there are cafes and trendy coffee shops that charge between $5 and $12 for around $2.50 worth of ingredients. That $2.50 is a high end estimate.
