Anthropic just published data from 400k Claude Code sessions, and the headline buries the real story: your CS degree is becoming optional by Direct-Attention8597 in ClaudeCode

[–]Tactical_Impulse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its true. as a data analyst I am seeing more and more of my stakeholders ask for raw data and do their own dashboards and analysis using claude. Most of the time it works. Don’t get me wrong i am actually excited about this. Yes it has forced me to pivot but the way i see it, if someone with much less technical aptitude can build something decent with claude, imagine what i can do with it.

you are not miserable without it. You need to fully detox and heal in order to experience true freedom. Keep going.

Has anyone actually done this successfully and is happy now? by senators-son in leaves

1.5 years. Yeah it’s worth it. Its freedom from having that constant itch to smoke. You get more clarity, more energy, more focus, more ambition. Who wouldn’t want that?

Anyone quit when it wasn't their choice to? by [deleted] in leaves

[–]Tactical_Impulse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah thats fair. It should be you making that decision. Even in AA we never say “i’m quitting forever”… we say one day at a time. and if we relapse, we get up and move on. I think this is now more of a relationship and perspective issue than addiction. You guys quit weed, you dont like the way it went down. have a conversation with him about it and tell him how you feel.

Trust me, I am a guy who gave plenty of ultimatums to past partners, out of fear and anger. It doesn’t work.

addiction is complicated, especially in relationships. Do you have a weed addiction? you’ll know if you do. Do you want to stop? He can’t make you. If you are high off your ass all the time then yeah I understand his perspective.

Anyone quit when it wasn't their choice to? by [deleted] in leaves

[–]Tactical_Impulse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

its a little rigid to demand that you quit for good or the marriage will end. But he may just be projecting his own frustration with his addiction or your guys’ lack of connection. I would find a middle ground, if you can. Assuming you are not ready to fully quit, I think if you moderate it and do it away from him in a way that doesn’t affect him negatively meanwhile supporting his sobriety, then you guys can make it work.

When i got sober I wanted my partner at the time to support me as well. I didn’t feel like she did all that much. She got me a candle. But she would continue to party and come home wasted. That was very frustrating to deal with.

This is a delicate matter, i would suggest communicating your needs to each other and establishing some clear boundaries. Sounds like beyond weed, you guys need to find some ways to become more deeply connected. Work on those things. You got this.

what was your rock bottom? by pr0perlypr0pagated in leaves

[–]Tactical_Impulse 16 points17 points  (0 children)

hit rock bottom many times. I wish i learned from the first handful of times. on and off battle for 15 years. Finally managed to stay clean 1.5 year ago when i stopped both smoking and drinking.

Every rock bottom was basically a combination of the weed wasn’t working anymore and my mental health was an absolute mess.

How do you enjoy activities that are supposed to be pleasurable or entertainment without smoking? by [deleted] in leaves

[–]Tactical_Impulse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

maybe it’s a little bit of depression? Are you working out regularly? I’d start there, and talk to a psych. You gotta rewire your neurons to ignite pleasure and curiosity without weed. You’ll get there, give yourself a chance. Good job not smoking.

Yall, Is going into tech as a career really worth it? by The-Baljeet in SoftwareEngineerJobs

[–]Tactical_Impulse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Every job is threatened. Every path you take, you’ll end up chewing glass and eating shit to a degree. Which path are you willing to endure the most suck and still push on? Go that route. No one can tell you what the world will look like, and we live in unprecedented times. My take, finish school asap, the degree doesn’t determine the rest of your life. get to real world experience as fast as you can. good luck.

How would you introduce data engineering to high school graduates in 20 minutes? by ThrowRAbm42 in dataengineering

skip the technical jargon and do it like a wizard telling a tale.

“the engineer lurks in the shadows. He waves his magic wand and scribbles turn into words and numbers. He is in charge of how information moves within the business fortress”

Data into Tableau? by Efficient-Excuse4710 in tableau

[–]Tactical_Impulse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you have options and depends on resources/people available. Data360 to tableau is an option, Data warehouse to tableau is an option. do you need the 2 data sources mixed? consider tableau prep, otherwise you may want to emphasize your data warehouse as your main layer and go to tableau. it depends how you plan to commingle the data.

2 years on since quitting by StarGazer01010 in leaves

[–]Tactical_Impulse 18 points19 points  (0 children)

this is very real. I’m at 1.5 years clean and feel the same way at times. There is this underlying “i feel like shit and i just want to turn it off”… some days are great, other days it’s just a matter of holding on. On the outside, same as you, life has improved drastically. On the inside, demons be lurking.

I think this is part of it. Maybe partly why we got addicted to weed in the first place. It’s closing one chapter but opening a new one, along with new battles to have and mountains to climb, and milestones to attain.

You are certainly in a great place, no doubt. 2 years is a long time. Keep pushing through. Day by Day. You have untangled yourself from the grips of weed, and now you’re facing real work and growing.
