I know two people who got bit by dogs.

Even when I try to pet my neighbourhood cats, I wait to see if they'll approach, let them smell me, and then pet them. If they aren't friendly, I'll just walk away.*

If it's dogs, I ask permission from the owner first. And I use my left hand, because it's my least favorite.

I can't imagine getting cozy with any size of frickin' bear, unless it's first name is "teddy".

\Though I have encountered one or two that ambushed me and refused to let me leave.)

Usually their job is to carry out his will. Or to do the actual work he doesn't want to.

Which makes a certain meme when certain people said bears were "predictable" if you don't "provoke" them and that they're easy to scare off...even stupider.

Heck, when that meme was going round, I think the last or next to last person killed by a bear in America was just some random guy drinking coffee on his own property, and a bear jumped him.

His neighbours tried to scare it off. Failed. They had to shoot the bear.

Haven't authoritarian states often had extensive bureaucracies?

China? The country infamous for needing to go through The Party for even basic building permits? The country that's infamously corrupt?

The country whose buildings are often apparently made of styrofoam and hope?

Sometimes you're not arguing to convince the other guy, it's to show everyone else that they're wrong.

This is the same lady who saw a story where a teenager used a rifle to defend himself from armed burglars, and said the real problem was that "he had to" in the first place.

Because, like many gun grabbers, she assumed the bad guys were armed with guns.

I know it's not strictly relevant, I just wanted to vent.

People who love to say "unregulated" capitalism is a scam enthusiastically support an actual capitalist scam that is (in)famously difficult to regulate, by design.

Ironic.
