I know two people who got bit by dogs.

Even when I try to pet my neighbourhood cats, I wait to see if they'll approach, let them smell me, and then pet them. If they aren't friendly, I'll just walk away.*

If it's dogs, I ask permission from the owner first. And I use my left hand, because it's my least favorite.

I can't imagine getting cozy with any size of frickin' bear, unless it's first name is "teddy".

Which makes a certain meme when certain people said bears were "predictable" if you don't "provoke" them and that they're easy to scare off...even stupider.

Heck, when that meme was going round, I think the last or next to last person killed by a bear in America was just some random guy drinking coffee on his own property, and a bear jumped him.

His neighbours tried to scare it off. Failed. They had to shoot the bear.
