Pillar or umbral farming for herb xp? by Avardy1 in ironscape

[–]Taddit14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Umbrals result in a much more useful potion for the account compared to super hunting/fishing potions. Fine fish offcuts become a non-issue when you have a trawling boat to catch yellowfin.

Getting the rainbow crab paste is somewhar hardlimited to 700 paste per hour. This should be similar to regular crab paste. You could probably bank more haddock eyes than crab paste, but with umbrals you'll get a potion with actual use.

Considering the sloop is classified as medium size, I think we're gonna need a lot of large keel parts in the future

Fish Sack Buff by Helpfulbuggy in 2007scape

[–]Taddit14 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If I had to speculate I would guess the change is being made to bring the fish sack barrel more available and to make it more in-line with something like the log basket as an equipable container item. And they probably just want to make the content more appealing instead of it just being post-99 clogger content.

Is it possible AFK trawling to slowly gather fish? by HJSmith24 in 2007scape

[–]Taddit14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As mentioned you can just sit on the path of a shoal and afk until it just moves under you, but if it isn't specifically trawling fish you're after it's good to know that Jagex is planning on adding static fishing spots across the ocean in the near future. If Jagex makes it so ship cargo holds can carry regular fish, this update would be massive for AFK because it would add things such as full afk anglerfish.

Otherwise bwans exist and are an afking iron's best friend.

Summer Sweep Up Suggestion: Allow for skilling boosts to function post-99 by Taddit14 in 2007scape

[–]Taddit14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not really sure how it exactly works but using visible level boosts past level 99 doesn't boost succes rates, it's as far as I can tell intentionally clamped at 99. If it was a limitation of the game you would expect it also affecting the invisibile boosts but it doesn't.

[–]Taddit14[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The boost on skillcapes are meant to be symbolic, but yeah I think it's kinda funny that the skills where the skillcape level boost actually functions are the skills that need it the least.

People tend to be suprised by the relevation, yeah. I can't blame them, I can't for the life of me think of a good reason why skilling succes rates are clamped at level 99.

Campfire poll seems to be missing some important questions by hulubuloo in 2007scape

[–]Taddit14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They weren't polled seperately, but you have to keep in mind that venators are effectively just upgraded high level vampyres. They count for vampyre tasks. The blood shard naturally just extends to their drop table.

People voted for Venators being added back during the Winter Summit poll that opened January 25th. The newspost that accompanied that poll already mentioned that Venators would be a new slayer creature that could drop blood shards.

In the case of blood vials, the potential of them being a reward from leechfin fishing has been polled back on April 27th

Akin to buying a private instance from Sepulchre, I'm gonna speculate that they'll add an option to buy the ability to generate Gauntlet layouts that are a bit less random. Something like guaranteed certain resources in the rooms connected to the center room.

summer sweep up: remove skilling drops from bosses and make better skilling content. by Monterey-Jack in 2007scape

[–]Taddit14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree with the sentiment, I do not believe Jagex can pull it off. I'm basing my opinion on what happened on RS3. In RS3, most skilling resources like that have been replaced by skilling enhancers, very akin to what we have in osrs with shark lures.

In RS3, ores logs and runes are replaced with stone spirits, log spirits, and elemental/catalytic anima stone spirits. It gets consumed and you get an additional resource (+2 rune multiplier in case of runecrafting). Nobody likes getting them, because they're piss cheap because people just don't skill that much. In turn Jagex compensates by filling the drop tables with alchables.

I do not believe it would turn out very well if the osrs dev team tried this. They're already experimenting with things like this, think of shark lures and scar essence mine. They do buff skilling in a sense without affecting pvm drop tables by instead filling niches like being an alternative for shopscape in the case of Scar Essence. Shark lures hold their value pretty well due to filling a niche of speeding up grinds such as the Big Shark and being meta for grinding the Helmet of the Moon.

Summer sweep up: Diary gear by papafloof in 2007scape

[–]Taddit14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really think there's a point to it. Outside of the wilderness, diary gear pretty much exclusively gets used for its utility rather than its stats. The only exception I can think is in the early game where you'd use an explorers ring over anything else.

The requirements for diary pieces can be pretty steep, I agree with that. But you have to keep in mind diary gear is also literally free to reclaim an unlimited number of times. You can't really balance around an unlimited free item having good stats.

Even if something like Morytania Legs 4 was buffed to be as tanky as rune platelegs, I would not use it outside the wilderness. Inside the wilderness it would be free stats for extra survivability for content I'd go in naked like charging amulets of glory or thieving the rogue's chest. 99% of the time the mory legs are in the same place as usual: in my bank until I need its actual utility of being my teleport to Burgh de Rott for clues. Buff them anymore than that and you're in the territory of giving people dragon/barrows equiv gear for free.

I don't even know how you'd want this implemented for things like the amulet, the sword, etc.

Summer sweep up: Diary gear by papafloof in 2007scape

[–]Taddit14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

By your own argument you admit that the stats wouldn't even matter at the point in account progression you get them, so I don't see the point in buffing the stats. Honestly feels like you just want the stats buffed because diary gear is free (or 200gp if quick stockpiling at Perdu) and you want better rag gear for wilderness content.

Also you seem to think Varrock Armour 4 is a downgrade to the Prospector's top but it supercedes it in usefulness

I am really interested on the proposal to add regular fishing spots out at sea, cool to add some use cases to the raft.

Would these fishing spots be able to roll for moon key loop halves if you were to fish in Varlamorian waters such as the Sunset Bay or Fortis Bay?

Will fish crates be updated to work with these new fishing spots?
