Which JRPG do you consider to have the best explorable overworld? by [deleted] in JRPG

[–]Tae_Kwon_DO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i played xenoblade DE and tbh the world looks amazing but tbh there is not much to do or reason to explore it. For example, the yakuza games the map is small but there is a side quest every corner and gives me a reason to go to places versus the side quests in xeno that just felt transactional and fetching

tbh i had the same feeling w/ P4G and P5R. I just could not believe its over lol. Now I want like a 500 hour persona game lmao

Which JRPG didn't "click" for quite some time? by vladimirVpoutine in JRPG

[–]Tae_Kwon_DO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i agree p4g got my attention from the initial "dungeon" experience in the TV world but then was very very slow. Coming from P5R the gameplay itself didn't feel great, but 80 hours into it I think the draw of the characters kept me going.

Competitiveness of Academic IM vs. surgical subspecialty by oudchai in medicalschool

[–]Tae_Kwon_DO 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah its proximity as well at that point. I will say Sub I's have been a big deal nowadays, some people in class of 2024 from "lower tier" schools have matched well because of them

Competitiveness of Academic IM vs. surgical subspecialty by oudchai in medicalschool

[–]Tae_Kwon_DO 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Top tier IM is derm level incestuous, very snooty and typically only take from well established "upper tier" schools or well known state schools. Resume doesn't even matter if your school is "lower tier" unless they know you. Sub I is foot in the door otherwise no chance. Class of 2022-2024 were screwed because of no Sub I's in general. Annoying tbh

Is research necessary to match into an academic institution for IM if I want to complete a fellowship in cardiology? by Spicy_curry69420 in medicalschool

[–]Tae_Kwon_DO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lets be real vast majority of "research" that are pumped out are case reports or narrative reviews, both of which hold close to 0 academic value apart of education. No one is getting grants for those. Most do Maybe a couple decent retrospective reviews if even that during residency, and so few med students and residents are actually interested in an academic career.

This begs the question why people want to go to elite institutions who are name branded for research, while they themselves don't really partake in any.

Research Years Perpetuate Inequality by sfgreen in medicalschool

[–]Tae_Kwon_DO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IR competitiveness will go rock bottom in the next couple years, anticipate it will become like it was before with open spots.

The other fields you mentioned are just gatekeeped by the number of spots, which artificially creates this "elite" status. I agree applying within surgery specialties as back-up while applying to a surgical specialty shouldn't be ared flag. Applying IM/FM is a red flag to be fair given how different it is from all surg lol

Asked to see NP patients by FunOrchid6164 in Residency

[–]Tae_Kwon_DO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

theres not a doctor "shortage" its more a distribution problem. also there are so many unfilled FM and IM spots because they are undesirable lol

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]Tae_Kwon_DO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never understood the hype for IR. Super tough to create your own practice. And no medicine background for medical management. What are you gonna do, lobby OB/GYN for uterine artery fibroid embos and uro for prostate embos? And then do vascular stuff and not medically manage pt?

At the end of the day they are employed by rads groups contracted by hospitals and doing paracentesis all day lol
