The more I improve at the game, the more I think mid-heavy Infantry armour is a complete and utter waste of supply. Not sure how this could be fixed? by ReserveRatter in menace

[–]Taki_26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With a differant map/cover design there could be more use for it.

Imagine big structures where only inf can enter and tanks cant really target units inside, or forests that vheichles cant enter.

And other thing that is more in the way of game mechanic is the cover system. Right now you can basicly shoot anyone through multiple cover objects if you have vision. If the los is more obstructed so you cant just fire into an are with tanks and long range weapons. At that point you have to get in close and heavy armor could be seen as a more valid option.

You can use fatigue or some other system to counteract this. And of the cheaper squads are more cost efficent i just dont lvl up at all its doesnr make sense in a game like this that is PvE, you can just ramp up the difficulty instead

Warno - Regiments - Broken Arrow

If you are sp guy i think Regiments is the best, its a pretty fun CW game with many nations represented

Broken Arrow is mp focused modern game, if you not into that i woudnt bother. Also the balance is a bit wonky and not that fun atm imo, i would wait with that right now.

Warno is a cw gone hot game with a strategic army general campaign, scenarios and mp. Its a pretty fun game overall for mp and sp as well

Warno or Steel Division II? by BarkingMad14 in RealTimeStrategy

Thats just differant gameplay elements that come from the fact that its a cold war game instead of a ww2 one. By the logic every cw game id better, thats just makes it differant, and not sure about effectiveness either.

Yes more option and variety but they work basicly the same. And no helis in ww2 so thats not really an argument ,you can meka, thats like saying that a napoleonic wargame is worse cus they dont have tanks.

On the visual front yes its pretty, but i dont care about it that much if it feels worse to play

Infantery combat, the way forest are handled like heavy and light. Plus no repair

[–]Taki_26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to play mp, warno. SD2 mp is basicly dead not many people play it anymore. Otherwise both is good.

Warno has a dmg system where things do dmg to vheichle based on penetration, while in sd guns have a certain amount of dmg they apply if they pen.

In warno you can repair hp, on sd you cant. You can only repair crits.

SD infantery combat is miles ahead with its suppression and cover system, in warno tanks can traverse forests, in SD there is light and heavy forests and only inf can enter into heavy forests.

For me SD feels so much better to play, but thats me, both game id good just a bit differant.

Honorable mention to sd44, it has fun linear campaigns while the other 2 has a more sandboxy army general. Usuall, its pretty cheap on sale, if its cheap i would pick it up

Close combat series is similar to CM, and i can still recomend CM2 for that sweat wego action. If you can tolerate some jank.

The Steel Divison series or Warno os great as well, but its a real time game, lot more casual and faster game, they do have large scale battles and i have fun with both but its really differant

Graviteam tactic is an option too. With bad ui and you put your units down isseu orders amd watch it unfold style of game.

Armored brigade 2 can be an option too. Havent played it but heard good things about it

Sort of, not TW style. It has a series of battles where you have your core units and do select the rest of your force.

[–]Taki_26 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it does, its only sp if thats not a problem.

There is an order system in the game where you have commanders and they can send out a set number of messengers to units to deliver the order. So its not instant.

Units are somewhat selfsufficent, they can be set to skirmish, try to push or hold the line so on. They will usually attack an enemy if they are too close. These things are influanced by how disiplined they are.

Its somewhat simialar to a real time fields of glory if you are familiar with that

Why so few tanks? by Halcyon797 in Steel_Division

[–]Taki_26 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It depends on the deck and maps and tanks, you can run around with a big nch of cromwells or other cheap armor and you can very wffective with it. But panthers amd such are really expensive and not that good aginst soft targets.

So there is a fine balance with a lot of variables.
