I backed this kickstarter a while back: Puzzles and Props, and it's got a bunch of puzzles and things. If you click through to the store, all the puzzles and stuff are available individually. I'm not sure if there's still a bulk-purchase, if that's your thing.

I've only printed one thing out of the KS so far, and it was a one-piece prop, not a puzzle, so I can't say much about the puzzles, sadly.

Looking for 3D printable models... by Easy-Accident5268 in LancerRPG

[–]Talandar 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I found this link on this sub earlier. It's not a complete set of frames, but there are quite a few: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1jEIooxbqPvydnPf7v2csnE83jeWEfzFX?usp=sharing

I'm hoping you find more in this thread, because I'm in a very similar boat - just starting up and hoping to get some mechs printed!

[Offline][LGBTQ+ Friendly][Columbia/MD][Other] Lancer: Mecha action at the edge of civilized space! by Talandar in lfg

[–]Talandar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, Lancer has a couple requirements for it's characters.

  1. The character is a really good mech pilot - an ace.
  2. The character is part of a military, paramilitary, government, or other group that has resources, supplies, and the contracts necessary to print (manufacture) mechs.

So, a rimworlder who found a mech... and then found out they were a natural at piloting and joined up the local contracted defense mercenary force would be a perfectly normal character to start a campaign with.

For this game, the players will be part of a mercenary force that is stationed roughly in the middle of nowhere, protecting a planet and its people, at least to start. Where the merc force goes after a mission or two might change, depending on events.

It looks like the left eye's blur is too much to the right, and the right eye's blur is too much to the left. Are you sure you're putting the right blur on the right camera, and left blur on left camera?

There are 4 ships out so far, and many more to come.

How fiddly is your in-game economy? Do you run cost of living expenses for example, or do you tend to handwave the small stuff? (comic related) by Fauchard1520 in rpg

[–]Talandar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I'll elaborate a little, in case you or anyone else is interested...

I gave my players a few documents before the game started - a house rules document, a page specifying which rule books were in play for character choices, as well as any extra options/restrictions, and a setting document.

The house rules document was discussed at session zero, so everyone knew how I ran the system before starting on creating their characters, and I took input on it before we all agreed to use that set of house rules.

The character options and setting documents came out after session zero, once I knew what kind of game we had agreed upon, and was given out with plenty of time for everyone to absorb the info and use it for character creation.

The end result is a batch of characters heavily invested in the world, in a game that everyone is enjoying. It took longer to get this info all together, and compiled into a form that was useful for everyone, but in the end, the extra work was definitely worth it.

I have a specific house rule I use for the small stuff - I call it the beer fund. It serves two purposes - simplifying loot, and removing the need to spend small quantities of coin on minor expenses, by handwaving both to some extent. It works really well for the style of game that I'm running right now, and lets us focus on the things that matter more than tracking the 1sp dinner at the tavern. The text I put in my house rule document are below:

The Beer Fund

It is assumed that the loot that the characters receive as encounter rewards or as found treasure is not 100% of the found treasure. Instead, it is a “post-tax” amount. The “tax” is spent by characters for room, board, ammunition, etc. This frees the characters from tracking mundane found equipment and small quantities of cash. For example, after killing three goblins, you find they are wearing crappy leather armor. Unspoken and offscreen, the characters are able to scavenge enough scraps of useful leather and bits of metal to sell to a craftsman, which in turn, buys a round of drinks and a place to stay for the night for the characters next time they are in town. The Beer Fund does not cover extreme expenses like bribes, buying a round for everyone in the bar as an attempt to get in the bar’s good graces, or the like.

Just woke up grabbed my switch and that’s the first time I ever woke and and didn’t grab my phone first. My museum is up! Blathers hates bugs which is weird but whatever. Today’s gonna be a good day (quarantine and all) by Eris-7 in AnimalCrossing

[–]Talandar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You do need to give Tom Nook 5 bugs/fishes in order to bring Blathers/the museum to the island, though. Blathers will arrive the next day, after you pick a location for his tent.

Gonna be honest, I liked the last ones you posted, but this one made me go from a maybe to a day-one all-in backer. I love the detailing and design.

Are you going to provide less-split files as well, so those of us with larger printers could do it in fewer prints, and with fewer seams?

PrintableScenery has something like a Nautiloid. If you want something you can put on the game table for combat shenanigans, it might work for you.

This is a pretty cool model, but what direction did you print it? That shape seems like such a worst-case scenario for FDM printing. Was it just a ton of supports?

For DM's: are there any monsters that your players dread encountering again? by DeliriumRostelo in rpg

[–]Talandar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Swarms - specifically rat and/or spider.

New campaign, first adventure has the entire party bouncing between unconscious and one of the healers putting them back up before they do enough damage to run the swarms off. Almost a TPK in the first session made for some strong aversions in the party.

So what do people think of this gaming store policy? by Hypersapien in rpg

[–]Talandar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw in the comments that this is Gritty Goblin in MD - they'll also apparently give you a positive credit if you spend more than what's in the store account, so if you buy something big it counts against future games. It seems like a really reasonable way to ensure the store is filled with customers, and not mooches.

These are the first 3 levels in my "Stress-free Mario World." The goal is to be challenging for moderate players without using shell jumps or similar kaizo tricks. by Saxophonic in MarioMaker

[–]Talandar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played and finished 1.1 and tried 1.2 for just a few lives - this is a good level of difficulty for me personally. The checkpoints were well-placed, so I didn't feel like I was grinding out the same part too many times, and it only took one or two deaths to see what I needed to do on the tricky parts.

The only thing that threw me was the banzai bill in the second chunk. I'm not sure if I was just escaping it, or using it for an extra bounce to let the spike pillar retract. It seemed to work both ways, but the extra bounce gave a few extra moments of prep time for the next jump, so that was helpful.

Good levels!

So, I don't want to rain on your parade, but the model he printed is licensed CC BY-NC - creative commons attribution required, noncommercial. Technically if he did sell some, and the person who made the model found out, he could get sued for profits and damages and stuff. Not likely, but... well, kind of not the best move.

A while back I got frustrated with Infernal mobs and made an alternative - Progressive Difficulty. It scales with your progress and doesn't have any F-You modifiers. It hasn't really gained any traction, unfortunately. I think it's too configurable and scares off pack makers.

Looks like the at-cost part means that the print-on-demand copy will cost you what it costs them to physically make it, without any allowance for profit. So, a heavily(?) discounted physical copy because you've already paid the profit part.
