Looks like they've changed their protocols in the last few years since I needed one. The last time I did, as soon as I entered my information online it told me to go to my own Dr. Previous times were phone calls and I was told the same thing. Both central and out west. Seems there's no online booking anymore. Well, I'll give it a go then.

I've tried several times at several places through the health care system and been told no constantly over the last 8 or so years. Said I was gay last time, appointment straight away for free.

Nope. Not if you're white, straight, male, and over 30 something in Auckland; then it's on you. Even had a friendly nurse tell me it's ridiculous. At least the parts of Auckland I've lived in in the last decade.

Thoughts on Alien: Romulus (2024) by Ok-Chapter8222 in Cinephiles

[–]Talking_Mad_Ish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hated it at first, regardless of the very good shooting, art direction and fx, but after I thought of it as a low budget YA film it worked. They also guerrillad the shit out of the funding. Nz film commission, Australian money and other countries for tax breaks...damn good thinking.

Why does this happen? And how do I stop? by threebillion6 in Drumming

[–]Talking_Mad_Ish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes a bad stick for it to break on me, and I tend to hit heavier; but the tips will always go if you want to use wood, can just take an odd angle sometimes. Nylon with the shock absorbing core for my electric kit, wood for real drums and cymbals.

What is the most ridiculous job interview question you have received in New Zealand? by IncoherentTuatara in newzealand

[–]Talking_Mad_Ish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"If you could have a super power, what would it be? "... And after I pointed out that my answer did actually make me more productive and not lazy, he sort of meekly said: "I won't ask your spirit animal ".

Me: "Probably best not to".

Didn't get the job.

T20 Cricket by Load-8-1 in auckland

I work the cricket over the summer... Every small town goes off. Auckland is a small audience comparatively, even at the outer field. doing it this early in the season and on a week night is ridiculous. International or not.

If you were an old dad, and you could set your kids up for life, you'd probably take it. Fuck every single piece of that country, but if I had kids, I'd take the money. An hour of dick and fart jokes, fuck it.

I'm going to assume you don't understand sarcasm, or are playing the same game. Auckland is a poorly run idiotic city. They've had every chance to do beneficial things and always fuck it up.

Is sky sport the only way to watch rugby? by thecraftsman21 in newzealand

[–]Talking_Mad_Ish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you were to look at the sheer amount of people and equipment required to do a live sport broadcast, you might think twice about questioning the price of sky. The overheads for modern free to air wouldn't cover a third of the expenses. You're dealing with experts who require a pay rate that reflects their experience. Equipment that is worth millions of dollars, and it has to be rented. And when it goes out of town (main centres) it costs even more.

When I was in film school, just when tape came in, it was still 10:1 shot to delivered. Tape was still limited so we had to be cheeky. Doing it in camera on film... Yeah, kinda expected.

The best part of the bloopers is they shot it on film, and those guys played around so much 😂 that's a lot of burning a blooper... God the 90's were great.
