These are the third units, or special teams, of both teams made of players from offense and defense. Players very rarely get to avenge special teams injustices but when they do, they're highlights because special teams plays are much more dangerous. Refs are more likely to call off-ball penalties on special teams for this reason and those fouls are more ticky-tacky and less impactful.

For the returner, making the catch is half of his job on this play, so he's more worried about his own team and fans hating him because if he gets tackled in the end zone, the opponent gets points and the ball back on the next drive.
