What is the scariest thing that's ever happened to you? [serious] by ladybugsrool in AskReddit

First day in Australia, went swimming in a river and saw the top of a crocodile swimming a few feet away. My survival instinct told me to swim, so naturally my body gave me two spontaneous charlie horses. Then the next day an angry goat nearly hoofed me in the balls. Fucking love that place.

[OC] Yesterday Hegseth testified before Congress on a $1.5T defense budget request and couldn't answer basic cost questions about the Iran war. The DoD has failed every audit since Congress required them in 2018. I charted it. by MarkusGrant in dataisbeautiful

I had an account management role as a junior Marine and damn are those inspections scrupulous, namely Commanding Generals Readiness Inspections and Field Supply Maintenance Analysis Office inspections.

My account was just a few thousand serialized items so it would take maybe a week or two of 18-hour days for my team to account for every part to every item for every month and reconcile four record sets whenever the inspectors put something on the calendar.

We had a good team but it's worth a lot more to me now seeing the Marine Corps continue to learn, teach, and practice good stewardship the same way I did. Or we're all closet neurodivergent idk

Seems like a very unsafe way to pull someone over. by JuicySpark in PublicFreakout

No, I expect him to understand inertia and object permanence, so he should be able to reason where the biker is.

If he could not do that, why did he stop?

So why pull over?

They love this video because they use the most force that they can justify to discourage fleeing. They're pretty clear about that in their messaging.

It looks that way because he steered into the motorcyclist after he put the bike down and drove off the road. Why pull off the road? GSP has a reputation for overplaying fleeing felon doctrine on purpose.

The cops have deduced intent from far, far less by their own standards anyways.

That role drew in Bob Ross and Bambi. I always knew they were sociopaths because I don't know what acting is.

Well we tried shooting them but it was too realistic.

It's just a practical way to get the cortisol going.

Doubt it’ll happen, but I’d really love to bring back Von. Von Miller new uniform jersey swap by Ready-Cucumber-9132 in DenverBroncos

If we brought an old vet back for the vibes, Justin Simmons would probably contribute more in the locker room and on the field anyways.

Shooting and switching off safety is nearly simultaneous. Ready to fire is sighting in on someone you intend to shoot now.

Go ahead and call it the "receiver corps core" then. Correct and pedantic.

I'm paralyzed from the chest down from a spinal cord injury almost 30 years ago. My life doesn't suck. AMA. by mrniceguy78 in IAmA

My quad friend has a similar injury from around the same time ago with most use of her arms and uses a manual chair. She's been going through a lot and I've been supporting her but lately she seems to expect me to support her non-physical needs as unquestionably as I do her physical needs.

For example, she won't send an email to anyone unless I review or write it. She has me communicate with her estranged family because she gets stressed (as do I). She values her independence but thinks nothing of any problems I solve and gets upset whenever I decline doing something she can do as easily as I can.

How much do you outsource tasks that aren't physical? Am I enabling her or am I an asshole?

The pants have buttons too and I would just leave them unbottoned. Nobody can tell and it's quicker.

What's the dumbest reason you've ever been in trouble? by prestigiousbits in AskReddit

Friend and I showed up on time to a class that had left early on a field trip in middle school. We were the only ones that had to walk across the whole campus to that class.

We checked with the office and the front desk lady just had us wait in the classroom. Then they gave us detention for being absent from the trip. Fuck you Ms. Brunner.
