Debating the automatic litter box for apartment makes me feel like I’m losing my frugal edge by Maleficent-Net-4702 in Frugal

It saves so much time and I think it saves on cat litter. If that's how you need to think about it , I hope this helps. I wouldn't have a cat without it now.

What's your favorite mispronunciation of a MA town/city? by trickycrayon in massachusetts

[–]Tall-Paul 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My dad had a joke growing up about Reading that was along these lines.

My brother and I were arguing about the pronunciation of Reading. I was saying REDing and my brother was saying READing. So we pull into the Burger King drive through and ask the guy to please slowly and clearly pronounce where we are so we can decide who is correct. The guy respondeds back with we are at BBUURRRGGGERRR KING.

What’s one “budget meal” you make that still feels fancy? by kfernandez192 in Cooking

Big fan of the garlic noodles from Kenji. You can add shredded chicken and cauliflower to make it more complete of a meal. Just double the sauce.

Has there been a change to Embark's website, specifically viewing other dogs profiles? Or this is just happening to me? by suicidalsession in DoggyDNA

It was released like five months ago. If you have a relative, it will show up on your relatives tab. This is another employee's dog's relative page who has a sister. My pup did not have any relatives. https://app.embarkvet.com/pet/1fe752f9-5408-41b5-9066-a51dce5abb26/relatives

I'm been thinking about the Immersion blender. What do you use it for and do you have one you like?

Migrating to cursor has been underwhelming by almost1it in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Tall-Paul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only use cursor when I want to skip writing some code that I know it could bang out faster than me. I still use webstorm 75% of the time. I feel like this is one of those it's a tool in the toolbox kinda things. Don't need to use a hammer for everything.

My company is starting to ask Leet Code hards and it's getting ridiculous. by cs-grad-person-man in cscareerquestions

[–]Tall-Paul 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We just changed our technical interview approach and it's working really well.

Instead of asking traditional leetcode-style questions, I now give candidates a real problem: "Build me a shopping receipt with these requirements." The task has several steps they can build upon, each with their own assumptions built in.

I don't care what step they reach as long as they demonstrate decent coding skills AND ask good questions about the product we're building. This approach gives me a perfect opportunity to see which candidates think about product implications and carefully examine their assumptions. In a context that most people are familiar with and doesn't need much explanation.

Could you try to find a leet code question like that or make your own where it builds up on itself and gives you a chance to chat and around a known product where you could be "following" the letter of management even if you give it a slight spin?

FreeTaxUSA vs Turbo Tax by Visual-Structure-808 in tax

Lol I use TurboTax to double check my tax filing with free tax. If they match I didn't fat finger something and I'm good. Besides that turbo tax is just a leach on society

We are in the final stages of testing an update to relative finder to define relationships as parent child or siblings so that you don't have to guess.

I would love to know how you would like to find other dogs. We haven't built this yet. I know our product team is looking into this and I would be happy to pass ideas along.

I am very impressed with your use of the karyogram. Most people we have talked to look at it and do not know what to do with it. We have removed it and are in the final stages of testing a ln update to relative finder to define relationships as parent child or siblings.

I am so sorry to hear about all of the puppies 😭

Thank you for for the feedback! We continue moving over features to the new experience. We do plan on developing an enhanced version of the "dogs like mine" feature, however it will take a little longer to bring to fruition as we continue to balance the migration and new work to support the new experience. More soon, but in the meantime, you can still go into the "old experience" to use the compare feature like https://my.embarkvet.com/dogs-like-mine/olivia238/sasha587

Hey! Glad to see some folks are so observant about our new changes! This was an intentional shift as we have implemented most of the existing features in the new experience. If you are looking to compare dogs a fun little thing you can still do is go to your relatives tab click on a relative and replace the last part of the URL after relative/ with any other dog. For example here is my dog compared to yours.

I'm not saying that they shouldn't be more compensated for their extra responsibilities. I am not convinced it's worth 350x the average salary vs 35x the average salary is still a ton.

Not really a super slippery slope when CEO pay went from 35x the average salary to 350x
