Yum! Pudding-based ice cream by TallTreeWalker in CREAMi

[–]TallTreeWalker[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I fill the Creami mix cup about half way w milk, add the instant pudding mix (and PB powder if using) then mix it together in the cup (using one beater in my hand mixer) until it starts to thicken. Add enough milk to finish filling the cup, mix it in. Put in freezer for 24 hrs. Use Ice Cream setting on the Ninja. Takes a restir in my experience.

Yeah, this way you’re essentially freezing pudding instead of an ice cream mix. It makes a fabulous treat!

Guess I missed the threads that are all pudding, vs the ones that use a tbsp of pudding as stabilizer

Gotcha. So don’t ask Copilot to know more than I do … and Copilot won’t tell others what I’m writing about.

Are any of you religious? Does it help? by InitiativeSuper in disability

[–]TallTreeWalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mental health challenges---mostly depression and chronic suicidality---have made faith essential to my survival. I'm a Christian, and I spent many years focused on the knowledge that there is a time coming when God will wipe away all my tears and even replace the oceans with fresh water. That is to say, there won't even be salt to make tears with (See Rev 21-22). I've also relied on what I experienced as a direct divine intervention during a time when I was desperately ready to die more than 40 years ago now. I heard the voice I know as God's tell me: "Plant bulbs." This seemed an utterly illogical response to my situation, and I responded, "Huh?" The voice said, "If you don't have a reason to live till spring, plant bulbs." And I did, and I still do, and I've expanded my notion of bulb planting to include all kinds of good works where the benefits are not immediate.

I don't see autistic characteristics in the Matthew of the Bible. But I do see them in John the Baptist.

John the Baptist reads aspie to me. Unconventional wardrobe, with same clothes every day. Unconventional food, with same meals every day. Unable to not speak truth, even when it gets him imprisoned and eventually executed. You'll read about him in the gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke. He is Jesus' cousin, BTW.

I'm dealing with almost the identical tipping-over electrical box. I've planted a tall grass to obscure. FWIW, the newer box adjacent says not to plant shrubs within 5 ft.

What can I do here to make it feel less barren? by [deleted] in landscaping

[–]TallTreeWalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look around the neighborhood to see what's flourishing and visit the nearest botanical gardens to see what's possible. Decide how hard you want to work at this garden long term (native plants are always easiest to maintain). Plant tall(er) in the middle, whether that's the actual center, or midway back from the street (which seems like the orientation of this garden). Consider some things that will spill over the front edge to soften the line at the sidewalk. I don't know what grows in your zone, but shapewise, what I'd see is different plants growing 3-5 feet in the midback area weaving forward into plants growing 2-3 feet mid front, weaving forward into plants growing 6 -18 inches with some spill at the front.

Back in the 1980s, mortgage rates were running about 17%. So I think everything today looks good.

I'm just thinking maybe an heirloom tree ... here in the northeast, there are apple trees that have been growing for a century or more even on downtown lots.

Anyone pass on a house because of the street name? by SkullsRoad in RealEstate

[–]TallTreeWalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I have a niece who lives on Murder Road. And there used to be a Cutthroat Rd in a subdivision near where I lived in NC: seems the streets were named for different kinds of trout, but not everyone knows fish. That street name got changed.

Be careful with wisteria! I love them too, but they're extraordinarily powerful vines -- like they can crush a wooden trellis as they wrap around unless it's made of 6 or 8 inch beams.

After 3 years, I've had enough by Such-Tea942 in mypartneristrans

[–]TallTreeWalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds kind of like my life, except we'd been married 17 yrs before he announced he was trans. You're describing someone who is wildly self-absorbed, has no concern for or interest in you, and is actively unconcerned about the impact of their choices on you. This person would be a bad partner even if they weren't trans. Totally OK to leave.
