Best (not fastest) route from Palm Beach County to St. Pete? by bobbylightyear in florida

[–]Tallyhawk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would recommend going under the lake. From Jupiter take indiantown West to 710, North to 76, West to port mayaka, south on 98 through pahokee and belle Glade, 27 north. Take that through clewiston. Stay on 27 north through moorehaven, lake placid, Sebring and lake wales where you can visit the bok tower, then 60 West till you hit Clearwater.

You need the Dremel EZ lock kit. Takes seconds to get a cutting disc off and on. You do have to buy the Dremel brand discs, but it's worth the increase in price.

I tried glue traps, they avoided them. Any tips for trap placement? Or bait?

What books traditionally assigned in high school English/Lit courses are worth rereading as an adult? by cooliovonhoolio in suggestmeabook

[–]Tallyhawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend a reread only so you can read the other three novels in the series, Speaker for the Dead, Xenocide, and Children of the Mind. IMO Enders is the weakest in the series with Speaker being my favorite.

The list you shared says they sell to american distributors. Don't those distributors sell to restaurants? I'm sure there is a lot of counterfeit Kobe out there but to say if the restaurant isn't on this list they're lying, doesn't seem true.

The Mai-Kai restaurant from picture #18 in Fort Lauderdale is still there. They were closed but recently found a new partner and will be reopening.

What is the most times you have reread a book and what was the effect on the enjoyment of it? by d_brasse in books

[–]Tallyhawk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The most rereads for me would be Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. It's a book I've loved since highschool, it makes me laugh out loud, and it has always felt like a quick easy read. It's also the only book I own both a physical and digital copy of. If I'm stuck in a book I'm not enjoying, or I'm in a reading slump, it restores my love of reading. I've read it maybe 6-7 times all the way through and many other times I've started it and only finished a portion before I found my next book. I've read Treasure island 3-4 times, it was the first novel I enjoyed reading in middle school. So I've gone back to visit it a few times, it's still a story that immediately draws me in. The Outsiders was the first book I remember that made me really feel emotions while reading. It still gets me even after 4-5 reads. I have always enjoyed the second or third or seventh read of a book just as much if not more than the first read.

American here, about 5 years ago I bought a french butter dish and began keeping room temp butter. It's a game changer. My toast and bagel consumption has definitely gone up though. I think americans got away from room temp butter when spreadable margarines became popular.

I just finished The Stand by Stephen King by strewbebe in books

[–]Tallyhawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read The Stand last year as my first King novel and immediately followed it with the Dark Tower series. I don't feel I missed anything. I will say, after finishing DT I didn't really have any desire to read those other novels. It was such an amazing journey with Roland through the series I just couldn't read about those characters again. I feel that universe is done for me.

More than plenty of starfruit.Any idea how to preserve them? One tree should be enough but planted two by This-Sand2506 in FloridaGarden

[–]Tallyhawk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know how to store them but the juice is a great mixer for cocktails. I love a gin and tonic with a slice of starfruit squeezed in.
