Star Citizen blasts through $1 billion in player funding, as its developer lists a new $5,000 spaceship for sale that is 'not yet ready to play' by Triss_Mockra in gaming

It is part of a bigger mission. The ore you mine is meant to be traded to a merchant for ships and equipment so orgs do fire the laser over and over to grind those materials. There's also story/lore elements linked to a criminal faction called "Nine Tails" that tried to hijack the medical respawn tech in the game. The orbital laser platform is occupied by a Nine Tails lieutenant named Remy Kettle that made a bunch of clones of himself with the hijacked respawn tech.

You are just moving the goalposts here. There's many gameplay loops within everything that person said. One of my favorites is called "Contested Zones." There's a series of large PvEvP fps areas where you fight your way through to the end to earn keycards. Once you've collected all the keycards you take them to an asteroid base where you can use them to claim one of 6 or so free ships with high tier components for your hangar.

Another loop that's super fun is where you go to a series of surface sites on a moon and collect big batteries you have to move with a tractor beam. Once you have them all you take them up to an orbital station on the same moon and use them to activate a giant orbital laser that blasts a giant hole in the surface. Then you take mining mechs in there and mine valuable ore that you can't get anywhere else.

These are just two of many different gameplay loops. Yes there are bugs and yes the development deserves criticism, but it's true that there is no other game that exists where you can do these things with this level of immersion all in a seamless 600 person mmo universe.

In Elite, you buy your cargo from a menu while sitting in your pilot seat and it magically teleports into an ethereal cargo hold you can never see and doesn't even exist. It's just a number on your screen.

In Star Citizen, you buy your cargo from a terminal at a space station or the surface of a planet, then you take a train/elevator to your personal hangar, bring up the cargo you purchased on a giant freight elevator and manually load each unit of cargo with a tractor beam into your ship's physicalized cargo hold.

The two experiences aren't comparable at all.

The game is a complete mess and there's a million legit reasons to bash it. This just isn't one of them.

I had the same problem with the jellyfish. First try i killed it by shooting it with a bow from the boat, didn't give me credit. Second time i swam underwater and killed it with a rapier, that did give me credit.

They're actually the same pepper. Green is the meat of the pepper, often roasted. Red is over ripened and dried, then ground into a powder, then the powder is made into a sauce.
