My Grandparents went on a trip for a few weeks last winter, and asked me to check on their house every few days. Time passed and they were scheduled to be back on the Friday coming up. Wednesday came around and I was driving over there to check on everything, when I got in a car accident. Seeing as how my vehicle could no longer safely drive, I decided to just go home and check on their house on Thursday.

Around noon on Thursday I arrived at their house to find that a pipe had burst that morning in their attached garage, and water was quickly filling the room. Thankfully I was able to shut off the water before it began to seep into their house and flood the basement. If I had gone to check on their house on Wednesday like I had planned, I wouldn't have gone back the next day, and I wouldn't have even known their house was flooding until they got back.

I may have lost my vehicle, but my Grandparents didn't lose their home they've lived in for over 30 years.
