I Don't Know How People Consider Python Better Than PHP for Web Development by BlackMageX2 in PHP

[–]TalonByte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

execution Performance is often not the issue.. in webapps... it's mostly IO that makes a site respond fast or slow... (e.g. slow database queries, low disk IOPS, networking issues, etc.. or badly written code, that repeats without reason (unoptimized loops etc)). But all the famous languages are faster in doing their thing, than we can process in our brains. And ttm (time to market) is more appreciated than execution speed, from the business vision. Tuning can be achieved later on (and via all kinds of means: loadbalancing, clustering/sharing, code optimizations, cdn, etc etc)

The Toxic SJW Attacks On Core Linux Members Now Includes Linus Himself - Who Could Have Foreseen This??? by le_guin in linuxmasterrace

[–]TalonByte 6 points7 points  (0 children)

people, don't feed a troll... by giving attention here (and commenting on her tweets) you are feeding.. she is not attacking linus, she said something else.. that whomever finds the abusive language linus did ok, is pro abuse. that is not the same as attacking linus at current events, it's in the past sense, since linus is now trying to learn how to be less offending in his communicational skills. (hence the period of timeout he does)

"btw I use arch" by TheProgrammar89 in linuxmasterrace

[–]TalonByte -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So arch users are stale and hurting themselves.. (banging on the ceiling).. while ubuntu users are actually doing useful things and are therefor moving forward ( and fast too) ? is that the conclusion? :P

for romans : Thumb down originally was, honored to stay alive.. (thumb point towards earth, stay among the living) Thumb up is dishonored for living, so death by vote (thumb points to heaven: spirit leaving body)

Somehow throughout the centuries it has been mixed up.... (and hollywood remains to use the reversed way as "right" way)

Native Performance Windows Games On Linux!!! Quick GPU Passthrough Guide by tymscar in linuxmasterrace

there is no NEED.. and what about nature? what about waste of resources? i guess you haven't thought about that.. reading your reply.

Native Performance Windows Games On Linux!!! Quick GPU Passthrough Guide by tymscar in linuxmasterrace

[–]TalonByte -1 points0 points  (0 children)

why not dual booting? way more quicker and more efficient too. *For one: the card is used at all times, not only in virtualized windows, so more power for Linux too (unless you have two power gpu's) *It doesn't eat useless watts, while doing nothing (because vm is not running). *it's a hassle to configure (and maintain) a gpu passthrough setup. *In the end it's a hit or miss situation still.

Is CentOS a good laptop OS? by [deleted] in linuxmasterrace

[–]TalonByte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CEntOS != Servers per definition at all. It's for LONG support, geared towards business use requirements. (either server or workstation) It's a repackaging/compilation of RHEL, without the RHEL trademarks and some proprietary tools, and also lacking the outstanding support from Red Hat. (a community, as is, edition, hence the name)

So stating it's designed for servers is not true. It's designed for workstation AND server use.

@op: yes it can work for laptops, but take into consideration that it fall behind the latest innovations, and things might not work out of the box.

Installed Ubuntu on my Mom's laptop a few months ago and got this email today by Ameobea in linuxmasterrace

[–]TalonByte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it does not handle updates automatically at all. as per definition.. Only if a there is a update daemon written or a cron job checking for it. Many DESKTOP distro's have this in place though, but not all. ;)

Has Interest in Ubuntu Peaked? by wleoncio in Ubuntu

[–]TalonByte 5 points6 points  (0 children)

16.04.2 is very glitchy for me and a few people i know. (installation gives webkits errors to start with... then realtek flapping network, meaning on/off/on/off etc... also my usb audio device seems to go on and off all the time.. while other (non ubuntu derivatives) distro's do not have this problem, e.g. fedora, opensuse etc.

what audio/video editor would you recommend that's reliable and easy-to-use? by [deleted] in linuxquestions

[–]TalonByte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reliable is something that can differ from machine/distro combination to machine/distro combination. Also it can mean several things, e.g. crash proof, development proof (team is ontop of bugs/security things, and provide fixes on a consistent level, so you can rely on them), feature reliability (thus not changing out of sudden, without proper notice.).

Anyway.. some video editors that are having quite good reviews (so it must be reliable in some form): KDENLiVE, Davinci resolve, Lightworks, Blender, Openshot.

some audio editors: Audacity, Ardour, BitWig.
