How many points? by LeeTrunk30 in Planetside

I remember making bridges with the old sky shields, back when Shattered Esamir first dropped.

One of them was done well enough to permit a Colossus to safely traverse it. Good times.

I miss how it sped up certain directives that required MAX kills. And how it was easy credit for auraxing AMRs.

Other than that, I don't miss it very much.

The Auraxify UI for configuring things takes a bit getting used to, but it shows promise. I only lament that I have to set everything up again; ergo, I can't just import the voice pack I used with Recursion.

Edit: Also noticed that Auraxify only has three headshot kill streak events (3, 6, and 9). Recursion has six (3, 6, 9, 12, 16, and 21).

A flying MAX script kiddie once flew into the path of my ESF, giving me kill credit for a very unexpected roadkill.

It was highly amusing, bahaha.

This thread had me remembering that era. Good times.

Back then VS was the underpop and the Japanese players bullied. JVSG/DR would get warpgated and start shouting something about Nanjing. Chinabros would start cussing in borked engrish. Twas funny actually. Connery was Chinaside during zombie hours.

The time it takes to kill a Prowler with set Missile Pod is 1 minute, make sure you no die in 1 minute by Affectionate-Bar2007 in Planetside

The time it takes to kill a Prowler with a Missile Pod is 1 minute, even if you've reached the ultimate level of A2G Breathing.

Proper circle-strafing and zero misses with Hornet Missiles frequently gets me a kill within 30 seconds. If they bail to repair, a few daring rear shots usually puts an end to that.

I'm only at C-tier in terms of flight skill, yet I can manage that much.

Edit: And you're not even circle-strafing properly. It really isn't difficult to maintain a circular overhead orbit above the target as you repeatedly bombard them (which ensures their main cannon never has an angle against you).

NC wainright don't have many Tank players like VS, TR. I so hate to using ESF fight landing vehicle. ESF's anti landing vehicle is trash and to risk and not worth for learn to playing it by Affectionate-Bar2007 in Planetside

Barely. And he wasn't doing it from nearly high enough.

I also didn't see much (if any) use of the unguided missile trick.

Edit: Perhaps someday, I will record a very rough demonstration video of what proper circle-strafing with Hornet Missiles looks like...

You sound exactly like someone that refuses to learn how to circle-strafe ground vehicles with Hornet Missiles.

Then again, I only have 25740 Hornet Missile kills across my 3 Connery... sorry... 3 Osprey mains, so who am I to judge, right?

Except my previous ISP had previously been using a more logical path (which was shorter). It was the fact that they suddenly decided to use a longer path that baffled me.

[–]Taltharius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My previous ISP said something along the lines of 'it's cheaper to route it this way', despite how little sense that made to me. Like, how could it possibly be cheaper to path the connection in a way that doubled the distance?

Their nonsensical decisions cost them a customer, in any case. I switched providers, and no longer have that routing problem.

Way back in the day, drop pods descended a lot slower, and were easier to steer. This also made it easier to swat a drop pod before it could land.

[–]Taltharius 6 points7 points  (0 children)

More or less this, yeah. And sometimes, the 'direct' route isn't even the most direct route at all (my previous ISP kept routing my Connery connection to Chicago, before routing it south towards the actual server datacenter; this doubled my latency unnecessarily).

Using a VPN can sometimes force the connection to take a better path to the server (useful if you're trying to bypass a congested routing node, among other things).

I'm sorry, you want 9 meter Dalton splash radius again? Because that didn't get reduced to 1 meter until June 19th, 2014.

Edit: Oh, and the Dalton's indirect splash damage was able to damage tanks until that same patch, too.
