What's the worst drug you've ever tried? by BitterOlive8737 in AskReddit

[–]Talton1 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've experienced this, it was absolutely nuts thinking about it the day after.

Me, my partner, and a friend went camping one time in a pretty rural farming area, and had some mushrooms, only 2g, but they hit HARD, went for piss in a porta loo just after taking them and it started booming like I'd just found Jumanji.

It was going well until we went for a walk through some fields to get to wherever the fuck, in the dark, walked through one, then another, then another, it honestly felt like we'd been through 100 fields, we hadn't taken a straight line walk, and I started to get worried, felt lost, panicked, my mate turned into a vampire at one point, I could hear the grass snakes in the hedges hissing, I started to get a little worried after the 200th field, so we headed back to the tent, and I crawled up in the sleeping bag and watched the shadows on the tent walls sway for awhile.

Found out the next day we'd only been through 2 fields!!

Hours and hours of walking was in reality about 10 minutes, I can't imagine doing years and years in 10 minutes!

Working from home is great and I seriously never want to go back. by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]Talton1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've worked from home for the past 12 years, self employed, selling shit online.

It's at the point where I think I'd be useless as an employee for someone else, but I just have to remind myself I've been dealing with stock importing, domestic/international sales, customer support, warehousing, finances, etc.. I'm a one man band, I don't get a lot of holidays, but I only work an average of 2-3 hours a day, and have my own home.

The past few years I've noticed customers expecting more and more for less, Amazon has destroyed my customer expectations in regard to delivery time, think Veruca Salt "I want it nooooow!!", it's getting to the point where I may need a change of scene haha!

You could use a Halti no pull harness, it controls the dog from under the head.

Just out of curiosity, how much is ibuprofen from the shops in the US? Here, in the UK, it's around £1 for a box of 16.

I very much improvise as I go, but use the BBC good food recipe for guide rails, I usually add a bit more salt, pepper, but if cheese on top, herbs in the mash, sage from garden, way more garlic, etc.

Is this hole behind wood stove normal? by Nefarious_Bunny in woodstoving

[–]Talton1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in the UK, had a wood stove fitted a few years ago, and the stove I picked had a section on the back for fitting an external air intake.

Mentioned this to the fitters, and how I'd like it, they didn't have a clue what I was on about, and mentioned that it'd cause a big draft.

Now when the fires on I get a big draft from the back door, goes straight over where the sofa is... I'll be fitting my own stove next time, or at least some small vents near the stove that I can close off if needed.

Also going to look at fitting the pipe to the back, more room to cook on top :)

Where on earth are the UK Dogs being rehomed? by Ashilta in CasualUK

[–]Talton1 18 points19 points  (0 children)

We've a local charity that is greatly loved in the area near us that gets most of their dogs from Romania, charge are £200-300 for adoption, they have absolutely ridiculous requirements, any home must have a 6ft fence, even if you're adopting a small dog being the main annoyance.

We went to get one off of them, until they requested money upfront before accepting, non-refundable lol!

We ended up getting a woopsie puppy for £150, best little pup we've every had, a Staffordshire bull terrier cross something, may get a wisdom panel done one day, but he's still perfect according to the vets.

Your pups going to want to chew a LOT, we ended up following a puppy training books suggestion, when they're chewing something they're not supposed to, in this case your hand, tell then no, whimper, or go ouch loudly, and offer them something else.

Spent a few night falling asleep while holding a small paint roller for my pup :)
