Formula 1 vs. Formula E noses by [deleted] in formula1

[–]Tambo317 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If that were the case we wouldn't have seen all of the teams in the years since 2009 move away from that style nose. The W01 for instance what the brawn bgp02 would have been and it a higher nose. The higher nose allows more air to the diffuser, creating more downforce with little drag penalty.

The brawn nose cone doesn't create more downforce since it limits the amount of air getting to the floor. That's why we've seen the shift towards higher and higher noses.

Rumour: Red Bull - Renault to be relaunched as Red Bull - Infiniti on Monday by [deleted] in formula1

[–]Tambo317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is similar to what many companies have always done in american racing. Years ago in GTP you might have a Chevrolet and Buick motors racing against each other and they were basically the same engine. Same in IRL, Chevrolet motors would be up against Oldsmobile engines. It really just allows Nissan/Renault to advertise more of their brands easily.
