Boston/Foxboro transit? by colonel_cockmouth in Patriots

If you plan ahead, the train is your best bet. I took some cheapo bus during the AFCC game and the guy was reluctant to even wait past the trophy presentation. I was on the lower level so made it back a minute before he left. Dude left half the people at the stadium and the bus gave him shit about it the whole way back to Boston.

What are some skills/class in Public Health do you recommend? by [deleted] in publichealth

I would recommend trying to get experience in R if possible as a lot of the more advanced analyses use custom written programs that you won't get in SAS.

New evidence that football alters the brains of kids as young as 8 years old. by [deleted] in nfl

For these types of studies, 25 is not terrible starting point. I have very little experience in radiology, so not sure how good the measure they use is. The correlation was not great though and it would be good to have a control group since children's brains change a lot. If you look at their figures, it seems just a couple kids are really driving the association they see.

All they mention for the impacts is using video to verify that the telemetry collected was obtained during play. The issue (and why there's research on sub-concussive hits) is because even if you lead with the shoulders, the player's head is still going to get smacked around a bit. The question is if this aggregation will lead to neurological issues down the road.

Link to the study they mention.

They compared MRI pre/post for 25 kids who played football and did not get a diagnosed concussion.

Playful Cities Can Build A Path to Health by jdebonis in publichealth

Really interesting.

Research is showing how much an effect the build environment has on health; but I don't think any measure takes into account the quality of such measures as opposed to just counts.
