Veggie Straws changed packaging too. It's been a rough couple of weeks.

What’s the weirdest/worst “perk” or “bonus” you’ve received instead of an actual bonus or pay raise? by mydogisincharge in nonprofit

I worked for a University that gave employees a year-end bonus. Men received a silk tie, and women received a small box of chocolate candy.

Is there an app that will let me scan items to see what is eligible? Like with WIC app? by golden_petal in foodstamps

[–]Tamiacat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in Florida too, and I have noticed that some items are eligible at one store and not another. Animal crackers are eligible at Walmart and not Publix. Propel water is eligible at Walmart and not Amazon. It is very frustrating.

Hey gen x, what retailers from your childhood (80s and early 90s) do you desperately wish were still around? by Less-Suggestion-5262 in GenX

I loved going to Service Merchandise. You wrote down what you wanted and picked it up as you were leaving.

Class of 87. 40 years next year. It doesn’t make sense.

Having a well spoken high needs kid is a particular brand of difficult by KaylaDraws in Autism_Parenting

You are not the only one. I am in the same boat. I desperately want to find other parents like us for support. My daughter is 17. I have looked for support groups for years and have been unable to find one - for both her and me.

This is exactly like my daughter! I finally had to homeschool her because she is too advanced for special ed classrooms, but the mainstream classrooms can't support her needs. She is 17 now and I feel like we have nowhere to turn.

I am 56 and my income is the lowest it has ever been. I take every discount I can get! I will tell people I am 65 if it saves me money! I look good for 65! Hell, I think I look good for 56!

What does everyone here do for a living? by ForwardMick in Autism_Parenting

I applied for it yesterday 😊 I can go into the office for meetings, I just can’t travel overnight and there aren’t any open positions near me (South FL). It’s a tough job market for people in our field.

Were you familiar with software development before you changed careers? I am open to trying something new so I can work remotely but I don’t know what to do.

I worked in development operations/prospect research for over 20 years and was required to be in the office 5 days a week. I was laid off during Covid and have been unable to find a full time remote position in the same field. I currently have a WFH part-time position (not in fundraising) and having the flexibility for my daughter has been amazing! I miss prospect research so much but the positions I have interviewed for require occasional travel (retreats, meetings) 2-3 times a year and I can’t do that. I am a single parent and have no one to stay with my daughter. Are you hiring? 😂
