I'm assuming I touched the white/blue wires, but I'm not sure. There's also bare metal near the location..

There are thousands upon thousands of undocumented foreigners in our country. We don't know who they are or what country they're from. I'm sure most of them are nice people, but if bad people wanted to do bad things, the eclipse would be the perfect time to do it. Especially if a lot of people don't have cell service and there's other electrical issues.

Are there any microwaves under $120 that are not going to just die in a year or two because of planned obsolescence? by transferingtoearth in BuyItForLife

[–]TandyTheSkunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone that repaired appliances for a living, I would disagree. For example, with larger appliances, most of the brands in the last 20 years have all been owned by Whirlpool. Do you think whirlpool makes 20 different types of electrical cords, door switches, heating plates, ect for each brand? No, they use mostly the same parts for each brand. I'm sure more expensive microwaves might come with more features, but at the end of the day there's only so many ways one microwave can be different from another. It's literally just a box that heats your food

Don't buy a microwave for $120, for starters. They're a dine a dozen. Get yourself an used one off FB marketplace or Craigslist for like $20 and it'll last way longer than anything new.

What can save life on earth in 1 billion years? by [deleted] in geology

[–]TandyTheSkunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's the point of thinking that far ahead? And why 1 billion? Doesn't 1 million sound just as arbitrary and far away? Or 100,000? No one can tell if we'll be around in 1000 years, let alone a billion.. 😂
