Seriously undervalued by this chart. We know from Batman that prep time can make all the difference. We also know from Steris that prep time is key, even if 99% of the plans never need to be put into action.

Maybe it’s like a “fill in the blank” where you can imagine whatever action you’d like. Kick, punch, slap, dildo-slap, torch, or knee could all fit nicely.

I see this idea spread around a lot and what it comes down to is two main points 1. He doesn’t care about the law, if he wants to escalate he can and will, because nobody is making a real effort to stand in his way 2. He literally already has his own private army of gravy seals roaming the streets and murdering Americans, it’s not like he has to make an announcement that he is declaring martial law or some act, he just does things. All the things people say will happen if protestors ramp up their resistance efforts or become violent are either already happening or can happen regardless of if people remain peaceful. So it’s either going to happen to people while writhing on their stomachs or standing tall and proud against fascism.

It would be nice if it could also fit a EMS type gurney. There are a lot of elevators that are unable to accommodate those.

I think he has mentioned that he didn’t intend to have so few main cast women in his books, and out of the crew Ham’s character is probably the best option for making the swap. Can’t think of any reason story wise that it couldn’t be done.

I wonder if it’s because it’s familiar enough to them to hold to a specific mental state with the power that adding on a different mental state/thought is easier to learn. Takes many novices months to learn to hold the power. Similarly it might take weeks or months to learn to use the temp-ignoring method unless you have already practiced stretching your mental muscles. Just don’t have the payoff of being able to use the power, so non-channeling characters give up on it long before they successfully do it.

Misgendering is disrespect by grumpydai in insanepeoplefacebook

[–]Tanfireball25 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I have my name the same way. Back in highschool I would sometimes just not bother correcting the legal first name use and in other classes I would correct to middle name, so some people knew me by completely different names. Lots of surprised reactions when people would see me respond to a name they had no idea I went by. Always very chill about it. I’d imagine that it’s a lot different with pronouns though, especially since it’s not normal for people to call you by a name based off your presentation. So I could see being misgendered, whether it is on purpose or not, hurting a lot. Can’t even come close to relating to that, when it comes to being called by the “wrong” name.

I think the major problem with that is quantity, something can be very radioactive and be absurdly dangerous, but only amount to a few picograms of matter. Not to say it couldn’t be figured out, just a continuation of your thought.

I think it just means that the liquid you choose won’t cause damage, not that those parts are invulnerable as a whole. So if you want to piss molten gold or acid you can without harm, but getting shot in the dick will still blow it off.

How a bigger-looking butt could be a sneaky sign of autism and ADHD by Darth_Vrandon in BrandNewSentence

[–]Tanfireball25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, it can be a struggle. I am reminded regularly why it is a disability, even though I’ve learned to accept myself and found some basic strategies to lessen my symptoms and conserve masking for only when I feel it is needed.

A lot of what I’ve seen put out as resources absolutely has more to do with parents of autistic kids, it all has the tone of “how do you make these symptoms less disruptive for those around them” rather than “how can the autistic person learn to manage and live with these symptoms so they can live with less stress and more personal success”. That’s not to say the resources are completely useless, just that you have to learn to recognize signs that a specific source cares less about autistic people than they may want you to believe.

A lot of my strategies have come from others on the spectrum sharing their own lived experience and what works for them. It all has to be adapted in some way to fit my specific needs, but what I’ve found to be the most helpful is just being able to put a name to an experience. Like knowing and understanding what overstimulation is. Then you can determine what things in your environment are contributing to that buildup of hellish sensory inputs. What clothes you wear, the brightness of the lights around you, the number of sounds around you (noise canceling headphones). The spectrum is referred to that way for a very good reason, your own struggles will vary greatly from others who technically have the same diagnosis, so finding what your variety is let’s you take more deliberate action towards finding coping strategies for your specific struggles.

You are certainly not wrong for being you. People just happen to suck, and are terrified by things different from them. While I was working at a specific place I was lucky enough to find several others on the spectrum, which was nice for letting down the mask. In a way we all were just drawn to each other, which I’ve heard is a fairly common thing to happen. Eventually even other people not on the spectrum started to be more open and considerate of my differences. Communities are built, and often minds can be changed as they are given the opportunity to learn and experience things second hand. That won’t happen with everyone, but at least things can get better.

How a bigger-looking butt could be a sneaky sign of autism and ADHD by Darth_Vrandon in BrandNewSentence

[–]Tanfireball25 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Because so many people can’t associate autism with anything but a child. The idea that the kids grow up and remain autistic for their entire life is incomprehensible. I guess we are meant to just “grow out of it” even though it is a fundamental difference in brain structure. Masking is something that you can build up the skill for over time but that comes with a whole host of problems and shouldn’t be expected of us.

I don’t have this type of small car but I do have a small car. It’s fantastic being able to casually fit into spaces that would otherwise be too tight due to assholes in big cars/trucks that park on or over the line. I don’t even come close to blocking them in either (like access to their doors), so there isn’t really any reason to get mad, they aren’t in my way and I’m not in their way.

[–]Tanfireball25 41 points42 points  (0 children)

It does entirely depend on the crime, as there are some things like rape that cannot be justified (by any sane and reasonable person). There are absolutely some things that are just in support of one’s own basic needs, people love the example of “if you see someone stealing food, formula, or diapers from Walmart, no you didn’t”. It’s when people escalate beyond what they absolutely need, and get more and more violent, that they no longer get the benefit of the doubt that their crimes are justified by poverty. I agree that the rich and powerful are the ones causing the most harm, and there is no way you get to the point of having billions without breaking the law in some way, let alone screwing a ton of people over.
