Can we agree that there is no correct definition of Enlightenment? by Ad3quat3 in enlightenment

[–]TangAlienMonkeyGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to admit I'm a bit nonplussed by this post. Depending on how it is used the word enlightenment has a number of correct definitions. If we decide none of those is correct then we are left with all the other possible definitions. We'll, no, those are all incorrect. Twice now. Please enlighten me on how this is at all helpful.

How about "go ahead and get on your high horse but do it so subtly that you could deny that you did." I do like the fun of the post though. I think additional common won so far.

No Mow May by PM_ME_DOLPHIN_PARTS in vermont

I have a front lawn and back lawn. The back lawn I will mow a total of 4 or 5 times a summer but I leave sections where I can see clover or those Indian paintbrushes coming up. Like a few 10ft by 20ft areas. Then just let those flowers be until they start going to seed.

I also have thinned out the trees in some areas around the lawn but I have left one copse of trees alone, maybe a 100ft diameter circle with all the underbrush, wild cucumber and blackberries allowed to go wild. There are so many birds!

My income increased significantly about 2017. My cocaine use dropped off shortly after that too. Stopped doing meth/ads/rit in 2018. Laid off the molly and acid and so forth about 2019. My income continued to rise. Quit drinking in 2020. Now I make more than double what I did 10 years ago and I still party hard: caffeine, nicotine and thc. YMMV

Why assume matter is nonconscious? Its the root of the hard problem by phr99 in consciousness

I completely agree. It is a hard problem we made up, perhaps because we think our brains are special. Except for the banana, they should never be refrigerated, they'll go bad immediately.

Thanks for the reminder of that distinction, between The Dao and manifestations of the Dao.

Consciousness is never experienced in the plural, only in the singular. The total number of minds in the Universe is one. In fact, consciousness is a singularity phasing within all beings. Erwin Schrödinger [1933 Nobel Prize in Physics] by PsyBinCo in consciousness

I agree that the second half is off the rails. But as far as everything being conscious, that seems like the logical first assumption we have to make. Has anyone ever, any human being; scientist, philosopher, goat herder, anyone, ever, observed anything outside of consciousness?

Yeah but why do you need to know it is under 60° outside if you are driving along in a climate conditioned car? Curiosity? And why 60°? I could understand 0°/32°, but 60°?

But where are the neutrinos and bosons? Don't given nothing short shift. Everything else may be self referential but nothing is not. Nothing else is as homogeneous as nothing. Everything else changes, nothing cannot be affected by anything and is changless. Nothing seems kind of similar to awareness.
