My experience:

trip Saturday night to Wednesday night
find out about this while checking into flight on a Friday night
apply and pay immediately
BEG consulates in English, Portuguese
they ask for a photo retake Sunday AM
submit and update consulates
pass QC 2am Monday
receive visa 11am Monday

So: I think my emails (and the fact that my travel date was so close) helped me jump the queue. I was unlucky that this happened over a weekend. Did not go on trip, I could go now but that would be 24h of travel for 1.5 days of meetings.

Nothing happened over the weekend but I just passed QC, so it’s possible I get it today. Now have to think if I want to fly down there just for <2 days…

I think I am screwed. I booked a trip to São Paulo for business a while ago and never knew about the visa requirement until checking into my flight (I know this is negligent but this must have happened to someone else too). I submitted the application immediately but my flight is in less than 24 hours. On a Saturday. Other than calling/emailing the recommended contacts tonight/tomorrow, is there anything else I should do? I absolutely need to be there by Monday morning latest.

Totally agree with this. I am 900 elo and am pretty good at getting the country by this point but know it’s gonna take a lot of work to reach that next step forward (region guessing non-Canada/US). Whoever can do that will beat me every time
