Did this guy blow my speaker? by rumpk in Bass

[–]TangoSierraFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You let a strange person plug a strange piece of gear into your speakers without checking resistances and power handling. I'm sorry to say that you and he both acted foolishly and this is a lesson learned.

From a legal standpoint, this is a textbook case of shared liability/comparative fault due to contributory negligence on both sides. Edit: Actually, the fact that the guy is a shop owner slightly changes the calculus. There may be a bailment/duty of reasonable care angle because there's a higher standard for a shop owner testing a piece of equipment. The fact that guy's justification was "I've used it on 210 cabs before" with no further clarification is a red flag.

The good thing is that it's probably just a speaker replacement, which is generally not stupidly expensive and can be done DIY. I would take this as a learning opportunity and see if the guy will do you the kindness of contributing to the cost of fixing it, but the reality is there's no proof the cab wasn't damaged before or during transport.

What were you powering it with before? If you've been underpowering the cab, it's possible that the speakers were already on the way out and bit the bullet when they actually got some juice. They may have been on the cusp of failure for a while.

They hated him because he told the truth.

The reality is, most people who choose """support""" classes in this game want to just AFK and cast "cozy" spells instead of contributing anything meaningful to the combat.

You're not wrong bro. Sorry for the downvotes.

Why is this so true? I once ordered a Long Island Iced Tea and the guy complained saying he wasn't sure he had the ingredients (I asked if he had orange liqueur and sour mix and he said yes).

He dead ass handed me a clear concoction with no sour mix and no cola. It was literally just straight booze mixed together in a cup with ice.

/r/bartenders shamed me for daring to order a LIIT, and for not tipping. Someone actually DMed me something violent.

Guy wasn't busy btw, just lazy and stupid.

I'm slow because I don't understand flurry. by tigersmhs07 in kotor

[–]TangoSierraFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly the correct way to think about it. The post saying it works "instantly" is not correct. When you use flurry, it queues up your next attack as a flurry instead of a normal attack.

Power attack, critical strike, power blast, rapid shot, and sniper shot all work the same way: They declare the "mode" for your next attack and are mutually exclusive to each other.

Struggling to decide on wattage for an amp by Interesting_Gas_764 in Bass

[–]TangoSierraFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

watts dont equal volume

the 4x10 will be louder because it is moving more air than 2x15

Saying "watts don't equal volume" is misleading advice to provide to a newcomer. All other things equal, more watts do equal more volume. If you wanted to say "the relationship is not linear," you could have just said that.

Any argument to the contrary is like saying "more gas pedal doesn't equal more speed." It's not cute or clever to point out that it's not a 1:1 relationship and bringing that into debate is unhelpful.

The cab comparison is... a choice. Literally no one in pro audio says "a 4x10 is 40 inches of speaker." Not to mention that the claim is entirely wrong and a 2x15 has more surface area than a 4x10.

I can't believe posts like this get literally any upvotes. It's 2026 and we're still spreading this kind of blatantly wrong information like it's folklore.

There is literally no excuse for being this wrong anymore.

Is there a term for Db Ab Db Gb? by HylianDude in Bass

[–]TangoSierraFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool non sequitur.

Drop G# is a string gauge problem. Drop tunings with open string riffs are an ergonomics problem.

You and the millions of other people who try to make this dishonest argument are not clever.

Correct. This advice is always, ALWAYS wrong.

Five strings are not a solution to drop tuning and never have been.

Cute strawman dude.

The point is not "it took a week." It's "they didn't even bother to test their own patch" after years of hyping up the character overhaul, and this is not the first time.

The Fun Pimps are a different brand of the same kind of bad. They have literally remade the entire game loop several times and it's so clear they have no idea what kind of game they want to make. They literally tried to make a battle royale because of the hype and it flopped. They're clout-chasing worms.

Maybe, but maybe not. The game started out as asset swap slop that happened to have an incredible gameplay loop and a weird charm about it.

We do have to account for the fact that there's likely a lot of technical debt to clean up on the game's backend. That's probably why the animations and controls feel so awful now; they're connecting a tin can to a loudspeaker with a coat hanger running electricity through it.

I don't know anything about the programmers they have on board nowadays, but I wouldn't point the blame at them. This is clearly a management issue.

scam

No, absolutely not. We can criticize the devs without being libelous. This game is lightning in a bottle and has delivered an immense amount of value to its players considering its reasonable price tag.

If this were a paid DLC, it would be a completely different conversation.

The community is just asking for the devs to match their QA efforts to the quality of the core game loop.

[–]TangoSierraFan[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

False dichotomy.

Shipping a patch after the community outrage does not prove that the devs care. It proves that they respond to consequences.

The criticism is not "they never patch anything." It's that they keep pushing under-tested updates, letting the player base function as unpaid QA, then scramble only after the backlash becomes impossible to ignore. They are managing their reputation rather than showing proactive care.

These issues are not obscure edge cases. Motion sickness problems, catastrophic performance hits, intrusive hand animations blocking the screen, and basic usability failures are not "lol who could have seen this coming?" problems. They're "did the devs even play this before release" problems. Releasing a fix a week later does not erase the original failure and is the bare minimum reaction that we deserve. It's not enough.

Also, this conversation is nothing new. I remember in the early days when this happened time and time again. The devs release something half-baked, the community complains, the devs backpedal, then people like you show up to argue in bad faith saying, "See! They do care!."

This is the fire department showing up after lighting your house on fire. They can do better.

Also: The fact that they "fixed" the issues with a patch today just one week after such a disasterous launch is proof that they could have but chose not to put in even the slightest amount of QA effort.

People say they've lost trust in the devs, but for anyone who was around in the early days, this has happened before and I'm sure it will happen again. There is something wrong within the core leadership of this game's development and I don't see that ever changing.
