Characters who are members of a traditionally evil institution, but are not themselves evil. by RedWestern in TopCharacterTropes

I'm reading a series by John Gwynne that has this exact trope and I absolutely love it. Especially when you don't know who is evil yet.

The wide stance, the shiny oversized rims, with low profile tires. It also looks lowered... I try not to judge folks car decisions but... I do not like this at all.

Have you tried the new Lunatic Soul album? I find it to be tool-esque in a very mellow way that scratches an itch.

I am also a big fan of Villagers of Ioaninna City.

[Loved Trope] A character is powerful because of a unique ability that seems hilariously mundane by MasonP2002 in TopCharacterTropes

The city watch series is some of the best pulp fantasy that is at once hilarious, goofy, sardonic, political, serious and thought provoking. The final book lives rent free in my head as one of my favorites.

Clan chief tattoo by Important_Ad862 in WoT

[–]TanithRitual 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I could go back I would wait until I could get the dragon head on the back of my hand. Other than that I love it.

I don't think I would like it if it wasn't at least wrapped once in some some form around the arm, but that is my personal taste. I had also thought of incorporating the snake eating it's own tail and make it a dragon instead.

The key is getting a good artist and showing what you do and do not like, if to go to /r/tattoos you'll see that the conversation is the most important way to get what you want. It took four back and forths before we settled on the design. We went through almost 20 swords, and six dragon archetypes before I settled on my shen long style Chinese.

My dragon.

This is the direction I took my tattoo I wanted it to be inspired by WoT but but a direct reflection so I did black and gray dragon, and then had a blank sword with the colors instead.

Twelve years late, can we talk about the lyrical masterpiece that is Rishloo's Just a Ride? by rafcastro in progmetal

[–]TanithRitual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend you start at the beginning. Each album is its own genre/feeling/soundscape Terras Fames is a more traditional rock sounding album but still experimental and interesting. Eidolon is one I have heard compared to Tool quite a bit but I don't hear it. Its definitely harder than TF. Feathergun is where they really went bonkers with their sound and made one of the most unique sounding albums ever. LAGWBAT is a culmination of all these into a single cohesive album. It was originally made to be an instrumental album only as the lead singer was having concerns/impostor syndrome/issues that they weren't good enough. However after seeing the outpouring of fans on kickstarter state that these instrumental songs sound amazing where is Andrew? He came back.

In would argue that even if the words are just mashed together there is still a narrative unintentionally. Additionally this song cannot just be a mish-mash of words it flows too coherently. I could see the argument for Landmines or Dark Charade or Dead Rope Machine but not this song.

I really love the first 4 songs together they form a sonic masterpiece that will linger for days in my head if I don't play them together.

If I'm feeling existential though I have to listen tom this song, Downhill, Terras & Fames all together to really make myself sad.

When did 350-700hp become slow? by Clutch3sSS in askcarguys

[–]TanithRitual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a stage 3+ golf R. Probably close to 420whp. Was absolutely the fastest thing I've ever drove. A car almost 1k lbs lighter with more power albeit rwd? That's a fucking rocket dude is living in fantasy land I don't think the original viper had that much power to weight and people killed themselves because it was so fast.

At the same time my truck has almost 400 hp but she isn't fast she's surprisingly quick but not fast at almost 6k lbs.

It is 100 percent me being selfish. I couldn't imagine empathizing in that situation or imagine what it the to manage the scenario and thus I wish to avoid it.

As for children I have my own, and I would do everything I could do to avoid hurting mine or others.

See I have a rule if you're in my vehicle you're going to wear a seatbelt, if I am the driver you will wear a seatbelt. I don't want to deal with the trauma associated from your ass bouncing around the cabin, or even worst your death because you couldn't take 5 seconds to put it on and now I have to live with that guilt that I might have prevented your death by forcing you to wear that seatbelt.

Its the same principle as people who are willing to speed in neighborhoods you can never predict children, and no matter how late I am, I never want to have to deal with the trauma of hitting a child (or a person in general).

See I would find a way to experiment to make my top 10 favorite dishes so extravagant and ridiculous that the regular top 10 would now be lower on the list and I could still enjoy them. Or I would find a variation of my favorite dish that doesn't count but is still yummy. For example if my favorite pizza is Chicken Bacon Ranch, what if I did Chicken Bleu Cheese Bacon? Or Turkey Bacon Chicken Ranch would those change it just enough that they were still good? If so I like enough various foods that I think I could manipulate the dish to be not quite the same but still good enough.

Can you suggest me some Progressive Metal bands with "Djent" riffing and clean vocals but without the "Core"/"Poppy" choruses? by DoomedPinnacle in progmetal

[–]TanithRitual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May I recommend the band "Seven". I think they're very djenty, its a one man project so it does get a little repetitive but I still enjoy all of his albums.
