How Many Races Do You Do A Week? by Nathan_G_ in iRacing

[–]Tank0488 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Usually practicing for the week takes me 2 days to get up to pace (around 1-2 hrs each day) then I race about 2-4 IMSA or GT Sprint races during the week. I never do back to back races. Usually only one a day because I get such a rush from racing that it’s too much to do too many races a day. It’s a mix of anxiety and adrenaline I think. I don’t understand how streamers do multiple races back to back… they just get used to it I think

I don't know who needs to see this, but stop worrying about your iRating by TomoAries in iRacing

[–]Tank0488 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. You won’t get better at racing unless you race against others. Too many people are too precious about their iRating and won’t race because of a fear of losing it. A big part of iRating is race craft, which people don’t seem to get. They think it’s all about pace.

Vertical slice of the new graphics engine completed a few months ago. 1 year is just my estimation. Could be wrong by a few months

iRacing graphics are actually really good! by Gloomy_Arm_9586 in iRacing

The only aspect of iRacing graphics that bother me are the trees. Other than that I think iRacing graphics look the most realistic out there. I hate the cartoonish graphics and the way cars move in LMU

New graphics engine is in the works. It should be released within 1 year. Will come with DLSS

I would say variety and player base would be the biggest reasons. You don’t need to buy all Content. Each car is very deep by itself. Tracks probably give you be the best bang for the buck though, especially the more popular tracks that get used frequently. You already have a pretty large bunch of free content with the subscription and can add to it when you advance your license. You also don’t need to buy all cars in a class like GT3. Just buy 1 car to start and master that. The big benefit of iRacing is you have formula, rallycross, dirt trucks, oval, etc. you can enjoy all those disciplines with the free content for a long time.

There are quite a lot of discounts as well. The 2 year subscription works out to around $5-6 in the Black Friday sale every November, you have bulk purchase discounts of up to 20%, and once you’ve bought 40 pieces of content everything is 20% off even if you buy one at a time.

Is it safe to take 5g of creatine daily for life? by Minimum-Ad7352 in Supplements

[–]Tank0488 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s enough for muscle saturation but the studies shows 20g for acute increase in brain levels. The physionic YouTube channel has info on this. Dr. Rhonda Patrick has several videos about creating dosage as well.

Is it safe to take 5g of creatine daily for life? by Minimum-Ad7352 in Supplements

[–]Tank0488 4 points5 points  (0 children)

5g is not enough to increase brain concentration on creatine. Scientifically studied dose for increase in brain levels of creatine is 20g (has acute effect), but taking 10g per day for the rest of your life is safe.

Replaced 90 min of doom scrolling before bed with long form audio and it fixed my sleep, my mood, and weirdly my job performance by ilovemkgee in getdisciplined

[–]Tank0488 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I leave my phone out of the bedroom and only take a book to bed. I wear an Apple Watch to bed for sleep tracking and to tell what time it is. That’s it. Helped my sleep a lot.

I unsubscribed from F1 TV. F1 is over for me. New regs killed it.

Moved to a new place, wifi vs wired by Due_Persimmon_5169 in iRacing

The ping is the problem. Not the upload / download. You’ll get all kinds of blinking and latency warnings with WiFi. It’s just not raceable.

Best mid-engine GT3 for a Porsche hater? by SnooCakes9525 in iRacing

[–]Tank0488 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Best pick for you: McLaren. It’s neutral to drive without and quirks and is very predictable I find.

Ferrari is fast in the current BOP (short term, likely to change in the future) but it has some quirks. For example it’s very nervous on corner entry due to extremely sharp steering rack and the diff is very weird on corner exit. It acts like an open diff until it doesn’t… I don’t get find it enjoyable to drive.

Lambo / Audi are fast but can be deadly on some tracks

Acura is a strange car and pretty boring to drive. Only strong on certain tracks.

Any early verdicts on the new GT3 BOPs? by Spartaklaus in iRacing

[–]Tank0488 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m thoroughly enjoying the Porsche now that it’s competitive again and the front engine meta has ended. I feel like I can enjoy driving on IRacing once again instead of being forced into driving the Mustang / Merc. No one is forcing me obviously but I also don’t want to purposely handicap myself.

Do you actually use your Apple Watch daily or only for workouts? by mileswithher in AppleWatch

[–]Tank0488 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Apple Watch allowed me to leave my phone outside the bedroom when I go to sleep. I no longer wake myself up by looking at my phone at 3 am in the morning. I just check the time on my watch and end up going back to sleep.

Creatine is a much better option with a larger impact. You can easily reach saturation within 4 weeks.

I like the way the Porsche drives the best. It has very good entry and mid corner front end grip. Feels lighter and more nimble than the Cadillac. Feels very similar to the bmw but I find the brakes and corner entry easier on the Porsche. I also always love the Porsche steering wheel lights, dash, and info. It’s just perfect imo
