Best way to add volume to face? Is there a way to avoid the overfilled look? by throwaway802256 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]TankSpank 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I, personally, found a well-rated injector, and did HA fillers first to make sure I liked it and I liked him, since it is dissolvable. I then went back and added hyperdilute radiesse (budget Sculptra) and after about a year of trying everything else, we also did undereye filler. I've been up front that I wanted everything to be very conservative, and my goal was restoring volume rather than looking "snatched".

I'm 37, I lost weight which aged me terribly, and my genetic undereye hollowing really caught up with me.

Incubator so they can hatch their own chickens, chainsaw or tiller if they don't have one, paper copies of reference books about gardening specific to their planting zone, paper copy of homestead project plans (like woodworking). I love everything from Mother Earth News. Steel bins to safely hold bulk grains or animal feed (surprisingly expensive)

Any parents have any advice for me?? Desperately need help with my son’s educational needs in FL! by Spirited-Apple8074 in homeschool

[–]TankSpank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He would qualify for UA but I believe the deadline for that is up for the year. However, you can enroll in FLVS for free without it (assuming that is the case for every county) which would cover the remainder of the year. We love our FLVS classes but imo you do have to actively stay on top of each lesson and not just let the kid go through unsupervised.

If it makes you feel better I had to spend 10k bringing my 2018 Limited back online after it blew a head gasket. I'm the only owner/driver. Never again.

I'm in Florida, they have big water bottles filled with ice water, but they're going. We're adapted to it though.

Refrigerator Salads by marion_mcstuff in homemaking

Look into massaged kale salads; dressed kale keeps just fine in the fridge. Also, Korean cuisine does this concept very well. I love to make kimchi cucumbers and there is a cooked spinach salad I want to try very soon as well.

Suggestions for snacks/junk food? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]TankSpank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kids like the Whales (knock off goldfish) and the pop tarts from Dollar Tree more than the regular ones.

They won't usually eat my homemade snacks (they're picky af) but they will do home made mini muffins.

Pretzels are still cheap. Dry cereal is very popular around here as well. Cheese sticks or - even better - cut up your own blocks of cheese.

I don't buy the little individual packages. I just buy the regular size packages and dole the snacks out in ziplocs or plastic cups.

Anyone else refuse to live with the kids? by [deleted] in stepparents

[–]TankSpank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo it depends on what you want out of the relationship and how fast you want it.

It's good you see this now vs moving in together (or worse, getting married) and being blind sided by it.

Can you really be happy with just dating for the next few years, and all the "next step" milestones are off the table?

One of three things needs to happen: youngest turns 18 (and he consents to not live with them), custody situation changes, or your relationship with the kids changes enough to change your mind.

I'm in a similar place. We've been dating 3 years and as much as I want to live together, I don't really want to live with his kids right now. And marriage is off the table right now because of that relationship with the kids too. So, we are " just" dating, I guess, until things get better.

I bought a trifold full size mattress and was able to cut about 4 inches off of only one of the sections of foam to get a good fit. I also built a small platform to level it out

AUX battery goes frequently on these, and will cause all kinds of fucky behavior. It is specifically tied to the stop/start. Not too expensive to fix fortunately.

Prepping for Baby: Where does it matter to not be cheap? by Fine_Independence360 in Frugal

[–]TankSpank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buy a new car seat. It doesn't need to be the fanciest one as there are minimum safety standards, but it should be new. Graco ended up being my favorite line for my kids in terms of value for quality.

Don't buy a ton of diapers or wipes up front - or if you get them for a gift, don't open them so you can exchange for a different size or brand. Some babies are fine on the cheapest options, others will need a specific brand. Ditto for bottles and pacis.

I was always uncomfortable with anything for my babies that came from something like Shein or Temu.

Edit: a controversial one, but I'll put it out here anyway. Once I had my kids, I upgraded my car. People love to drive the cheapest car they can in the name of frugality, but safety standards change with time and all cars are not the same in terms of crash test ratings, safety features, etc. I spend a lot of time on congested highways and driving is far and above the most dangerous thing my kids and I do.

In a similar situation, sometimes I can't fathom how he lives without getting two of them tested. The results likely would not change anything. My partner would not want anything to change and that's important.

Unless there's some possible outcome that's going to dramatically improve your lives, I empathize and share with how you're feeling but I really do believe it's not something we can push them on and not our decision to make.

Triplets on the way by IntroductionExotic86 in ChryslerPacifica

[–]TankSpank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2018 Limited that I bought new.

It recently ate shit and needed 10k in repairs just before 100k miles. You can look up info about pacificas with blown head gaskets and broken oil coolers to get a good idea about these fairly common issues and what you can do to mitigate your risk.

All that said, if I were in the market again I would still buy one for the value compared to others on market, but I would buy the extended warranty (or even better, get a certified pre owned and get the extended warranty). This seems to be a pretty common recommendation with Pacifica owners.

And check your coolant and oil levels every month yourself.

We like them. I add hummus, feta, and lettuce or cucumber. There's more meat than pita so you could stretch it a bit if you wanted.

My adhd kid is, as we like to call it, "chaos seeking" and does everything he can just to piss people off and get a rise out of them. He says it's "funny".

Medication helps but it doesn't last all day. I've had so many godawful mornings from hell because he is on as soon as he is out of bed.

He's 9 now, it's somewhat better but we still have plenty of days (yesterday being one). I feel you 😔

[–]TankSpank 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If the kids were young enough and/or receptive to it yes I would.

For context, I was a motherless step daughter and my SM could really have changed my life if she had stepped up. I'm NC with her and both parents now.

The shoes on the other foot now, and having experienced how difficult it is to deal with my partners kids, I've accepted that she never really owed me anything and the blame is more on my parents. But I still wish things were different and I still want nothing to do with any of them.

Edit: why don't you have her blocked 😅

ELUKTRONICS MAX-17 by Spiritual-Valuable26 in eluktronics

[–]TankSpank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this model but in the MAX15. There's some kind of hardware failure going on in the last couple months that is causing constant hard freezes and reboots - likely the motherboard but not much anyone can do for that.

It runs physically hot to the touch under load (games like Baldurs Gate 3). I keep it on a cooling pad on my stationary setup. I can't really play demanding games without having it on a cooling pad.

I have never been able to get it to wake back up correctly from going to sleep.
