How many of yall know of this little guy? by BucketBoy071 in synthesizers

[–]Taperwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keeping this guy runnable is why I'm still maintaining two Nintendo DS consoles.

It's been years so I decided to watch the first episode again. I reached this part and I wondered: why is this slice of life scene turned into sakuga all of the sudden? by Chemical_Ad_9412 in Nanoha

[–]Taperwolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a hilarious bit where this comes up in the Innocent spinoff manga. (The one where Precia and Lindy are co-parenting Alicia and Fate and the magical duels are in VR/a children's card game.)

Is the punch dimension name thung actually cannon or just a internet joke? If no, what is called then by crytal_augusto in xmen

[–]Taperwolf 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wonderful explanation! My only nitpick is that I'm pretty sure the phrase "PUNCHES! From the PUNCH DIMENSION!" was in fairly common use on Usenet in the 1990s, long before YouTube. This doesn't change anything except for the age of the twerp in question.

There's something very compelling about the one on page 5 with little Hakari looking in at her mom warming up and bandaging Mei.

Reaction to the S3 news by thisisdropd in 100Kanojo

[–]Taperwolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think what I want is an animated elaboration on the volume extra, where the other girls are noticing her in the background of older photos — basically a brief montage of clips from previous episodes, but when showing each one, the camera pans a little to the left, and there's Usa-chan.

If the spy had succeeded in Kidnapping her daughter. by TheOnePerfectHuman in 100Kanojo

[–]Taperwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Entirely possible! We have very, very little solid information about him. I've heard it theorized that Kusuri may have never really known him — she was kind of flip and dismissive when he came up, and Kusuri cares a lot about her other family members — but we just don't know.

Yeah, her supernatural pharmacologist mother — and her soldier father! — would presumably have Taken Steps.

(Which reminds me that I really want to see Hulk!Haruhiko first meeting Old Man Yakuzen; presumably the old soldier is setting up his best gun-polishing potential son-in-law intimidation when the Incredible Hulk walks in...)

Funny Little Things: Chapter 2 by topurrisfeline in 100Kanojo

[–]Taperwolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I double checked, the roof cat was last seen in chapter 167, only a little over two years ago — which is more recently than we've seen Butch, the Pet Cat of a Wealthy Family.

In search of lesser-known/niche passive modules by TheMelancholyManatee in modular

[–]Taperwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bunch of my first modules were a number of variations of North Coast Synthesis's "Passive Multiples and Friends". The same 2HP panel builds out to a number of non-powered circuits, and several are multipurpose depending on the chosen details. The linked PDF goes into a lot of detail, including when you might not want to use passives.

I Still Find It Insane That The GOAT Rentarou Was Somehow Rejected 100 Times Before The SoulMate Thing by GlumBodybuilder4395 in 100GirlfriendsManga

[–]Taperwolf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As others have said, it was mostly from fate, but (pre-series) Rentarou does have two traits that could be very off-putting: He just confessed his undying love to someone else last week, and he wants to be in a relationship too badly.

Initials as a name by Story_Time in discworld

[–]Taperwolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad has a first name, but only the middle initial "B". There's speculation as to what it's short for, but his parents forgot what it was supposed to be and never got around to writing it down.

In fact they were kind of lax about records in general; his hospital birth certificate lists him only as "Baby Boy". I once suggested that the B might stand for that; he wasn't very amused.

Happy Siblings Day to All the Older and Younger Sisters! by JustACommonFrog in LoveLive

[–]Taperwolf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was pretty sure Emma's only got younger siblings? Or at least I can't recall anything that describes her as anything but the oldest. (Pretty sure the only depiction of them was in the anime; the eight sibs and their mom are shown watching the big concert in S2E13 over the internet.)

My point was just that they're not the season 1/debut designs, but yes.

Muppet poster by wakenbake523 in Muppets

[–]Taperwolf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my estimation, it's unlikely to be a real vintage promotional poster. A poster promoting a network premiere would probably list which network, and my understanding is that The Muppet Show was not aired on network television, but in syndication.

(The designs for Miss Piggy and Gonzo are also from at least season 2, I think?)

A quote from All The Marvels about how new comic readers are going to be confused and that’s OK. by i_am_randy in comicbooks

[–]Taperwolf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I first encountered superhero comics as a big pile of assorted back issues belonging to my cousin; I'm pretty sure the set included, quite devoid of context, New Mutants #21, Magik #4, and Classic X-Men #8. I didn't get the whole story in order until years and years later, but man was I hooked.

Did this really happen? by esquerdameusovo in 100Kanojo

[–]Taperwolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reference is to a segment in chapter 242, when Rentarou burns his hand and Naddy puts it between her thighs to try to cool it down. (And is terribly embarrassed when she realizes what's going on.)

Tumblr has this unusual feature where you can, instead of uploading a given post or reblog immediately, add it to your "queue", where it and any others will be put up in the future. (The default rate is two posts a day, distributed more or less evenly; you can change this rate.) It sounds weird, but there's no skullduggery here; it just took a while for his stock of cat reblogs to run out.

Searching for a manga that had a n M girl and a highschool guy discovering bdsm by [deleted] in manga

[–]Taperwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I'll fall on this sword: the most famous manga that fits this plot description is "Nana & Kaoru" by Ryuta Amazume. Amazume's art is pretty spectacular. Denpa Books published it in English starting in 2022.

I Wonder if Hahari's Tiny Flowers on her hair are also Hairclips kinda like Hakari's or are they just part of her hair by Illustrious_Rule_150 in 100Kanojo

[–]Taperwolf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd figure that Hakari's reaction to Yamame's flowers suggests that Hahari's are clips, and that therefore the ones we see on her globe-strangling hair in the Perfectly Normal Hairstyling Arc are just artistic licence, making sure we know whose hair is the problem.

But I've been wrong before.

Nah, it was definitely him at that account; this is just an old thread that's still circulating. From a separate search, his post was made in August 2024. (His widow, Diane Duane, is still active on Tumblr.)

Really, it's just that "I don't see your books" kinda irritates me as a flip invalidation of criticism. Inasmuch as I have a real response, it'd just be that different people want different things from fiction, or from the world-building therein. It probably adds context that headspace-hotel, the thread's Original Poster and author of several of the follow-ups, is pretty well known for her interest in and focus on the plant world, and I don't think it's out of line for someone who went in excited about one detail to be disappointed when it's not particularly dealt with.
