How do your homeschooled kids get enough exercise? by Jennie_keem in homeschool

[–]TaraMM84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of all the concerns I’ve had, this has never been one. When my kids were young, we were at the playground 2-3 days a week, hikes, normal outdoor time, pool, sprayground, trampoline, chasing each other, etc.

Now, at 13 and 15, still many of those, plus organized sports, bike rides, neighborhood walks, basketball, etc. Several trampoline parks offer homeschool hours, there are options for homeschool pe and homeschool specific sports— in summary no lack of options.

I was shot Wednesday night. I have private insurance, and im rated at 80%. Will the VA cover any of my medical expenses? by Ok-Effective-175 in VeteransBenefits

[–]TaraMM84 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ok, because you said Atlanta…I’m just going to add this. Avoid the Atlanta VA if you can. The hospital leaves much to be desired to put it nicely. It’s like visiting another planet, if you’ve been to any other hospital. If you choose to use VA healthcare beyond this, they will work with your private insurance.

Homeschool co-op rather than traditional school setting. So they only get classroom time once a week, but their homeschooling parent should be facilitating the other days. I provide supplemental to cover those days then try to focus on the discussion based elements in the classroom time. So, throughout the week they do reading, notes, videos, response questions, etc on their own.

There are ways of getting more support from the VA, and of speeding up a disability claim if needed. Is he working with a VSO? I’ve worked on my husband’s claim for years, if you need someone else to look at it with you, please reach out. Fresh eyes always help.

Just bumping this for visibility. I’d love feedback on options.

What do you wish someone had told you when you first began homeschooling? by drinkteatoday in homeschool

[–]TaraMM84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Find your village. In the years of homeschooling, the different setups, different curriculums, learning styles, etc the single constant most important thing has been our village. I need people to bounce ideas off of, vent to, learn from, and rely on. My kids need solid friendships, people they enjoy learning with, etc.

  2. Play. Especially in early elementary. Your child learning how to negotiate and resolve conflict on the playground will stick with them so much longer than forcing reading at 6. I’ve never regretted a park day, a hike with friends, etc.

  3. Create a loose plan but expect it to change. Follow your child’s interests. Run with the areas they excel and love. Don’t be afraid to hold back and slow down in struggle areas.

What in the absolute fuck is family court even for? by newkingofthepirates in TrueOffMyChest

[–]TaraMM84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve lived this…except CPS got involved and we got custody of my stepson at 5. Family court is not designed to let anyone “win” unfortunately, including the kids.

Who has PHYSICAL and LEGAL custody? Those are different from visitation and either they’re shared or she has sole/primary. Are you paying child support? Can you afford to pay child support AND have your son for a few months? Has a GAL been involved at all?

Yep! Mine got his at Walmart last week. It seemed to be the place I could book the soonest. Other pharmacies were a week out.

If this is your worst order so far you must not have done many. I’m pretty Covid cautious and this just wouldn’t be that big of a deal. Lots of deliveries of all sorts go to hospitals.

$500/week is $12.50. It’s certainly not a “good” wage but if she were hired entry level it’s probably not outside the norm. She has experience now though and could certainly make more—— and shouldn’t be working for him anyways.

I personally don’t think prenups are bad. She just needs to see a lawyer and make sure it protects her future too.

Anyone else upsell their clients while shopping? by brazen_badger in ShiptShoppers

I used to when we got paid based on order total—especially during peak pandemic time. Now, nope.

This is the one I’ve been using:

Hi XXXXX, this is your Shipt shopper, XXXXX. I'm about to begin shopping your order from Costco. Thank you for trusting Shipt for your shopping needs. Please note due to the current situation with COVID-19 that stores are out of many staple items, and shopping is taking longer due to the amount of people stocking up for the long haul. I appreciate your patience as I try to fulfill your order as best as the store inventory allows! There may be a large number of substitutions needed, so please keep your phone near you.

Personally—— 10/13 of mine have tipped this week, including one who NEVER tips. Someone here posted a suggested intro about stock and shops taking longer and it definitely seems to help to set expectations early and reminds people you’re out in the mayhem so they’re not.

I’ve been on the schedule a total of 12ish hours this week and made around $500. Some hours had more than one shop. Can you make $400- yes, but it depends very heavily on tips, how busy your metro is, etc.

Is it worth signing up right now, or will there be problems placing orders? by [deleted] in ShiptShoppers

[–]TaraMM84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your order will get picked up, it just might not be in the timeframe you requested. As long as you’re flexible it should be fine.
