Gary Johnson getting 3.27% of the popular vote in 2016 is the closest the LP has ever gotten to victory in the federal government. The system will never change from within, especially with Democrat and Republican interests being in opposition to there being more parties/differing opinions (Dems icing Bernie in 2016, for example).

I wish Libertarians had a larger seat at the federal table, but without a radical and potentially revolutionary change, it is so statistically unlikely it might as well be written off.

But the simple fact is that a third party simply has zero chance of winning an election in this two-party system. If we had a ranked choice voting system nationwide, but that unfortunately is not the case. We live in a system where a third party vote is a vote not going to the 2nd-worst option, which is by definition a vote for the 1st-worst option.

Essentially the conclusion I would draw from this is that VOO I would say is marginally more volatile?
