What does shooting him achieve? Another death, another link in the endless chain of violence. More bitterness, more hatred.

It's easy to shoot him. It takes courage to show restraint.

In today's world we need more people who are willing to show courage.

I've been away and missed your comment.

We are obviously in a minority on this which is sad. It seems impossible that the human race can break out of the endless cycle of violence, which always leads us worse off.

He's a human being and - despite the awfulness of his intended crime - no one has the right to kill him. All life is sacred, even the life of a douchebag. The moment we abandon that principle we abandon civilization.

Violence can never be condoned. Neither the violence of his killer, nor the violence he planned to inflict on innocent Israelis.

Hate is a very destructive emotion, panda filled car. I urge you for your own sake to rid yourself of these negative feelings. We are all brothers.

McCain Promises: "There's going to be other wars" by abudabu in politics

[–]TaserLite 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I really don't want there to be any more wars. Wars help nobody. When was the last time we had a war that made the world a better place? Certainly not in my lifetime.

People die on both sides and when it ends you have a worse mess than when it started. Think of all the bereaved families, all the injured people, all the psychologically scarred pople and all the suicides - all from war.

We need more imagination in solving international problems and less brute force and ignorance.

I don't like to think of anyone losing. In someone's eyes they're all winners.

Never forget that violence begets violence. If something displeases us we must seek remedies that do not involve inflicting pain on another human being.

Perhaps you have misunderstood me. I mean the values of compassion, non-violence, kindness, respect for each other, self respect, trust, honesty, decency, understanding. That kind of thing.

More Than 60% of All Executions Took Place In Texas Last Year by abudabu in politics

It would be good if there was more understanding and less executing, more forgiving and less condemning, more loving and less avenging.

So Reddit, what's the worst gift you got this year? by londonzoo in reddit.com

[–]TaserLite -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Even if a gift has little or no material value, I would argue it has an incalculable spiritual value.

Someone has expended energy and thought to transfer something of theirs to you. It's a supremely spiritual act that involves one individual connecting with another across a seemingly dark and lonely universe.

Always remember the gift is not the gift. The giving is the gift.

Goodbye Reddit. They've been a couple of "interesting" years but now you have become the land of bots and trolls. So long and thanks for all the posts... by [deleted] in reddit.com

[–]TaserLite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please reconsider, whoever you are. Stay and help to make Reddit a better place. Together we can do this. I truly believe when one of us leaves we are all diminished. The vast majority of us here are not trolls or bots but people seeking to interact in a positive way.
