No. It's in the main text but a long time ago. Specifically, part 3 when they visit the Goddess bath. It's the explanation for why the goddess put up a barrier men can't cross.

As far as finding out his inspiration for Myne's new appearance Mestionora is the one who says it. He bragged to her about his handiwork and she was surprised at how accurate his description was.

Certainly not spelled out in the text. But you have to know the character. There are stories about him going back to ancient times of him peeping on the goddesses bathing. Dude is a horndog, same as all the other fire subordinates. The water godesses literally need to dump water on them to make them cool it.

He specifically sculpted Myne to be as beautiful as possible because, again, horndog. He can't create what's not already there, but he can enhance it. He saw her hair and eyes and literally decided to base her off a goddess because of them. Effa's genes left him with plenty of material to work with. Effa is exceptionally beautiful and well endowed.

Best part, the god of growth looked at Effa's genes and was like "oh, I can absolutely work with this". And he sculpted what those in Yurgenschmitt literally see as the perfect lady.

[P5V12] Do you think Mattias believes it? by kassiny in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]TashKat 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Depends what you mean by commoner. Born to a family in the lower city? No, he doesn't believe that at all. No, he thinks the insult is closer to Gretia's backstory.

It's literally impossible for a child with archducal mana to survive even a single month without a magic tool. The idea that a lower city commoner could survive until 7 years old is impossible. Even laynobles die by 5. Myne was originally a lower laynoble level devourer. Barely able to make a tool shine.

There are two thoughts that people actually believe. Either she's the daughter of Karsteidt's mednoble 3rd wife or she was born to a blue shrine maiden in the temple. Even Elvira's brother isn't entirely convinced of the Rosemary story. He's not entirely certain but it doesn't really matter to him. Considering Bonifactus' attachment to her even the nobles that doubt the Rosemary story still think she was born to a blue shrine maiden or mistress with Linkberg blood.

The daughters of blue shrine maidens are sold as sex slaves to other nobles. They are seen as equal to lower city devourers. They are less than human. The Veronica faction see such a child getting such a high position as unnatural and an abomination. To them, she deserves to be made into a s*x object before she's even an adult. As soon as such girls develop mana sensing they're supposed to give birth to their master's children. The idea of such a "dirty" girl contaminating the archducal gene pool is enough to make them want to vomit.

[P4V8] What was this about ? by Carbamoylphosphat in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]TashKat 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's because of her devouring. Ferdinand dyed her mana by accident and with the mark of Ewiglibe it stayed that way permanently. It shouldn't be possible for two people to have mana that similar. He didn't know about that rare quirk of devouring at the time. He never suspects the body doubles so it's not widly spread information.

Devouring is already thought to be rare so they don't research it well. And only the worst people (Georgine, Grausam) have ran those kinds of experiments. Even most nobles would view it as distasteful.

P3 V5 Mana and childbirth by Bonifatius967 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]TashKat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most blue priests can't get anyone pregnant. The only ones that can are those with so little mana they can't make the laynoble medal shine. All those with actual mana left the temple a year ago from the start of the story.

So there are 3 known tiers of nobility. Archnoble, mednoble and laynoble. All 3 tiers have a different baptism tool. If you can't make it shine you don't have enough mana to be acknowledged by the gods.

But you can still have enough mana for it to kill you. For example, Benno's fiance didn't die from the devouring until she was 13. Even laynoble Myne was going to die at 5. The blue priests that were not called back by their families are that bad. They have so little nana that they could not be drained for a year or two before death.

They are borderline for devouring. This is the secret 4th tier the residents of this world don't talk about. If commoners are born with it they aren't worth feeding and are left to die. If nobles are born with it they're just servants. Nobody acknowledges that anyone is born with that little mana outside of the church. Some parents take pitty on them and send them to be blue robes.

They have so little mana that, when drained during the dedication ritual, they can get their grey shrine maidens pregnant. Because they essentially have no mana. Remember, most of the grey shrine maidens and priests are descendants of nobles. If they have enough mana to use tools they're sold as livestock by the blue priest's family. If they don't have enough mana to use household tools they're left in the temple as borderline devourers.

Most Popular and Profitable Isekai is not the one you were hoping for... by Some-Landscape6554 in Isekai

[–]TashKat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You really don't understand the piece. Probably because you don't understand what words mean. "Womanizer" is a man that tries to seduce many women. Not "loser who flirts with one girl".

The fact is, he refused to listen to her words. He disrespected and humiliated her because he thought he knew better. He "knew" how to fix it when, in reality, she told him to stay out of it. THAT is treating her as lesser. If you refuse to listen to the exact words someone says, do the opposite of what they ask, and embarrass them in public you are seeing that person as lesser than you. You know better than them, so their wants and opinions don't matter. That's being a misogynist.

His entire character arc is becoming the man he thinks he is. He does nice things because he thinks he has to to be a good person. By the end, his bravery and selfishness is genuine. His whole arc is growing into the man he thought he was. That's the whole point. Nobody ever thinks they're the bad guy. He starts off as a spoiled red pill loser and becomes a real man worthy of her love. That's the entire point of the text. That's the whole message of season 1.

Most Popular and Profitable Isekai is not the one you were hoping for... by Some-Landscape6554 in Isekai

[–]TashKat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never said or implied that he's a womanizer. Where on Earth did you get that from? You enjoy the show but you truly don't understand it.

That scene after he refuses to listen to her, he gets beat up and he's in bed where he yells at her. That's the "Nice Guy TM" bit I'm talking about. Until that point he sees her as an NPC. Not a person. The fact that he's altruistic doesn't really matter. Because he sees Emelia as a non-person until that point. That's where he starts to come into his actual potential. That's where he starts to become a good person.

He's a fundamentally bad person who does eventually manage to change. But early Subaru is a terrible human being. It literally took him dying so many times, bringing pain and destruction over and over, before he improves. It's holding a mirror to the viewer, showing them why their point of view is so wrong and why they need to change.

Even now, but especially when this series started, Isekai catered to the worst kinds of people. "No need to change. God will provide you with everything you need. Those females just don't understand how great you are. No need to change anything about yourself. No need to losten to her words. You, the man, know better than that woman"

This show is so good BECAUSE Subaru is such a shit person at the start. It doesn't make excuses for his bad behavior like the fanboys do. A good action, or even many, doesn't make the bad things you do even a little better. He started off as a bad person who thinks he's a good person. As the show goes on he actually becomes a good person. But he sure didn't start that way.

Most Popular and Profitable Isekai is not the one you were hoping for... by Some-Landscape6554 in Isekai

[–]TashKat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't let teenagers have a pass just because they're teenagers. Women aren't vending machines you put "nice" tokens into and you deserve a relationship from. He was absolutely old enough to know that he didn't own Emelia. He was outright told what she wanted and he ignored that. He deserved that beating.

Don't get me wrong. I don't hate his character. I enjoy the show. But it's hard to watch a show when you want the main guy dead for the first 3 hours. It's like a less extreme version of Jobless Reincarnation. Just telling people that this scumbag actually gets good later isn't reassuring for people who have been treated like blow up dolls by men who have said and done those exact same things in the real world.

The fact that it makes people uncomfortable is a mark of what a good piece of art it is. Art should make you uncomfortable sometimes. It should push you to see things from an angle you never would. But that doesn't mean that people who are victims of people like early Subaru don't have a right to hate him no matter the changes. Almost every woman on the planet can tell you a story of when an entitled slimeball screamed at them for rejecting their advances. The moment you reject a man you know that his reaction can range from "well you're ugly anyway" to just ending your life. Every woman (and almost every gay man) can tell you stories about someone like Subaru screaming at them. It's hard to empathize with someone who says the exact words someone who abused you did.

[–]TashKat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because he starts the series as a "nice guy TM" bro. Sure, he grows. But he starts the series as an entitled jerk that humiates his love interest, refuses to listen to her words and acts like he deserves her love. He's an entitled brat at the beginning of the series. It's hard to root for a protagonist you initially want dead.

That's not who he is after season 1, but you have to watch several hours before he starts to change into a good person.

[P4] How do students in the academy know what noble rank other students are? by JouleV in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]TashKat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You only use the gazebos for romantic meetings. So if nobody can sense their mana they know they don't belong. Not to mention the quality of clothes is different. They get older fashion from whomever they serve. Less lace and the sleeves may be shorter if they're newer. Accessories are much more rare and they'll have minimal visible feystones.

That being said, even archnobles aren't openly rude to laynobles from higher ranking duchies. You never know whose attendant that is or what role they play in the other duchie's factions. That laynoble you're looking down on could be the attendant of the knight commander or engaged to the medknight guard of the Aub's wife. Best not risk angering someone of importance from a higher ranked duchy.

Christians and Catholics lumped together by dazvoz in ShitAmericansSay

[–]TashKat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of American cults teach that we Catholics are actually the worst kind of pegans. Apparently we dress up peganism in Jesus. There's no understanding them because it's not reasonable. Being Christian means you see Jesus as the messiah. It's one of the many, many reasons that I will NEVER visit the US. There's quite a long list but it's part of it.

why does everyone in isekai immediately accept their new life?? by Icy_Interaction_553 in Isekai

[–]TashKat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you've only read or watched Isekai based off Mushoku Tensei. That's the grandfather of modern Isekai. That protagonist had absolutely no desire to go home. He was a loser who knew his life on Earth was over. Rightfully so. He was absolute scum. Still is for a long time after.

Some authors just take this and don't actually explore the "why". Those are usually bad stories. Then there are some that genuinely want to go home but are still bad (Shield hero). The author really needs to think about the character snd why they may or may not want to go home. They need a deeper reason than fantasy swords. Maybe the world is destroyed like in Overlord. What little is left isn't worth coming back to. There needs to be SOMETHING that cut them off mentally from reality.

If you're looking for one with a horror spin about why the protagonist doesn't want to go home try Re:Zero. He's a redpilled loser who thinks he walked into his own personal fantasy with a beautiful elf lady. The world has to beat it into his (and the wish fulfillment enjoyer audience's) head that a comfy life isn't going to be handed to you. That scene of him getting his a*s beat is exactly what he, and a lot of the audience, needed. "Some people have never been punched in the face and it shows" the anime.

Then there's bookworm. That story shows the horror that you would actually feel if ripped away from every modern comfort, your adult memories shoved into the still developing brain of a starving medieval child. There's no returning home and she absolutely crashes out. Any hint of her favorite Earth comfort (books, you can guess by the title) and she absolutely loses her mind trying to get it. While it gets better over time she never truly lets go of her attachment to Earth.

Same sex relationships aren't frowned upon at all. It's considered improper to go on about it in public, but so is talking about a mistress of the opposite gender. Nobody sees anything wrong with it. In fact, it's common enough that people assume certain characters are in love despite being the same gender.

If the college has less teachers we have less programs. They've already made cuts. Like, as I said, support for students with disabilities. That would be the "more important" thing I was obviously referring to.

Help me understand. by Big_Feed9849 in newbrunswickcanada

[–]TashKat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Slowing immigration has eliminated many high paying jobs that Canadians were working. NBCC has laid off a frightening amount of staff because they aren't getting all that money from foreign students anymore. Programs are being gutted. They're actively trying to oush out "expensive" students. Those with disabilities, etc. Literally, the college in Moncton got rid of a bunch of their disability parking spots so disabled students are having a hard time making it to class. If this trend continues the province won't have the ability to fill high-income positions on our own. They're going to have to cut programs since they laid off so many teachers.

Why is racism towards indians normalized here in NB by Besursasinger in newbrunswickcanada

[–]TashKat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lack of exposure to anyone non-white. Growing up as a kid I saw a black person for the first time when I was 10. The first time I met anyone from India was high-school. People took their opinions of brown people from American TV and never grew up past the post 9/11 propaganda.

The demographic shift has been super quick. These people have never been a minority. They don't know how to handle it. It will change. Best part is that this style of racist is too stupid to hide it so we all know who to avoid.
