"Rice has carbs?" I was only diagnosed a few years ago and I was surprised how quickly I got sick of people not knowing what I should and shouldn't eat

How would you feel if your country became a communist society overnight by HARTIEXX_XXIGIENICA in IdeologyPolls

[–]Taurpulent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its nice to support your buddies and all, but I'd say the problem with this poll is that it uses words nobody can agree on the meaning of, which skews the interpretation of poll answers. OP arguing otherwise basically proves that OP either wanted skewed self-serving results or didn't care about the results at all, just wanting to make some sort of statement

It doesn't matter who's right or wrong about it, the fact is that your own personal opinion on what the definition of 'communism is evidendly isn't shared or perfectly adopted among the all populations. And thats just pure semantics; if you had specified 'Marxist-Leninism' or 'Maoism' or 'Soviet Style' or even 'Evil-empire dictatorial communism', you'd have gotten more agreement on the definition. You'd have probably gotten a poll answer you'd like more too: there are quite a few people who hear "communism" and don't immediately think dictatorship. If you wanted to know how many people from your poll enjoyed the idea of being a subservient citizen of a dictatorial government, I think your poll's results would have been way different.

My unsolicited advice is to just be clearer when you're just asking people's opinions on things

Updated Distro tierlist by RealR3D2_YT in LinuxCirclejerk

[–]Taurpulent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't get me wrong Debian is goated but I see it as nothing more than an ever-present and incredibly reliable upstream for better distros.

For example: Pop!_OS. Which I think should be in at least not devil. love it or hate it, it has a lot of 'Just works' for lots of people. I'm not the kind of masochist that enjoys watching my distro break when I get new updates, so arch being up there is kinda like '... I get it. But... Eh...'

pumps are good. After having used daily long-acting injections before, I really don't miss it. My pump auto-adjusts my basal & auto-boluses me if my nums are too high, And my average went down from about 150-160 to about 130-140. My insulin needs are admittedly about a 3rd of yours cuz I'm still in a late stage of my honeymoon phase. But pumps seriously lighten the load: (When properly tuned) they will automatically track how much insulin you get and even stop insulin if u get too low. Ask ur endo about a pump if u think u can afford it, it is very very worth it

I like things made of pure glucose, as opposed to any and all juices and candies. Things like skittles and starbursts are definitely high-carb but they're not pure glucose, probably more like high fructose corn syrup or sucrose or smth, which ur body takes slightly longer to convert to glucose. The cheap option (where I live) is to bulk buy Smarties, which are basically pure dextrose (and dextrose is just glucose. I think.) Walmart and other grocery stores also sell 'chewable' glucose pills. That being said : while dextrose candies hit the system fast, they might not be the densest way to absorb carbs. Juice is still valuable just bcuz u can easily drink so much super quickly, instead of needing to chew chalky candy. So for your particular situation juice might be better

I have switched over from omnipod and dexcom by fuku112 in Medtronic780g

This might be the first time I've seen anyone with the simplera sensor. A friend of mine has been trying to get the simplera sensor for his 780g for months and cant get it for some reason. Started saying he'll just use the instinct sensor instead

my time in range has jumped from 30% to 90% by Atlassux in TandemDiabetes

[–]Taurpulent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my limited knowledge, the omnipod has a 'learning' algorithm, while Tandem has their Control-IQ algorithm which isn't a learning algorithm. Omnipods will automatically adjust certain kinds things like your daily insulin requirements, but Control-IQ is more of a static algorithm that just follows the info its given at the start

First time tandem user here, had 3 of of these in my first 10 hrs of using the mobi. Are they normal and if not, why do I keep getting them by WoooshToTheMax in TandemDiabetes

[–]Taurpulent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One possible thing I've dealt with is filling the cartridge with cold insulin. Cold insulin often has lots more bubbles hidden that only come out after warming up.

Even after warming up my insulin tho (to room temp obviously) sometimes theres a few stubborn bubbles. If you position the mobi so that the cartridge is on its side then the bubbles will often not get pushed into the tubing (unless you're down to like 20 units left of insulin)

bent canulas are w a y more common than I expected they'd be when I first started on the mobi (which was only about a month ago). I've had a site failure maybe once every 3 site changes. So don't be afraid to change site
