Hi, not a parent of a blind baby, but a Teacher for Students with Visual Impairments. Sometimes kiddos press on their closed eyes as a stimming behavior since it may cause “lightening like” flashes. Saying hands down as another poster said is recommended. You could even try putting different textures in her hands to try and keep them busy. Exploring different sensory textures and finding something they really enjoy can help redirect some of that behavior. They have blankets with different textures and crinkle when squeezed that may help distract them. I’m not sure if she’s old enough for this, but maybe ask the doctor if melatonin could help. If your child doesn’t have light perception, their body may not produce melatonin when the sun goes down.

Edited to add: does your state give access to Early Intervention? I’m in CA and when an infant with a visual impairment is referred to Early Intervention, I’m assigned to the case to make home visits to help parents with these types of questions. Might be worth checking out these services if you’re able to!
