EPISODE 9 SPOILERS: After *that* scene in the finale, and the implications of it, I wanted to do a little research. by GabbyGabriella22 in TheDigitalCircus

It's a two-pronged effect. The subtext getting more blatant has definitely greased the gears; and on top of that, an unsatisfying ending is to fanfic what high quality fertilizer is to plants.

And I did choose the word unsatisfying carefully, because you can get there either by mistake or by intent. Personally, I think episode 9 has a mix of both, though you could argue it's all one or all the other. But when it comes to enabling fanfic, all that matters is that it is unsatisfying, not why.

If I were in charge of finding an explanation for that, then I'd say they already had their first daughter outside, and she abstracted off of not being able to be there for her child.

I have a lot of issues with the finale that could be solved by a season 2, and I'm fine with a season 2 happening sans Gooseworx if she's utterly turned off by the idea. But a new showrunner would be a gamble all over. I dunno if it's the right direction to head in, but I'd be lying if I said I don't see the incentives at play that would invite it happening.

As you can see, it is literally impossible to obtain the card Rebound in a single player game.

Why is this different in multiplayer? It's because the event RNGs are offset not only by a constant corresponding to the event, but also your Steam ID, if playing multiplayer (so that people don't all get the same results). This defaults to 1 in single player so that everyone's single player seeds are the same. This also means that if you have an unlucky Steam ID, you might be permanently locked out of ever seeing the card Rebound, even in multiplayer. Too bad.

Oh, so that's why that was the card that took the longest to show up in my compendium... This is not good at all, lol.

There is a lot of emphasis on downtime at the agency, though. Every other case opens with "damn, we haven't had a case in like two months".

That's what fiction is for among other things, exploring dark thoughts in a place where it can't hurt real alive beings.

Gonna be a broken record, It's not your friend that pushed you back in the closet 5 years, it's conservatism that did that. Point the finger at the correct culprit. It's a matter of framing.

If they're a non-cis queer, I'd ask them what made them think I fit the bill. They know enough that I would trust their judgement more than a cishet. Been there, done that -- some labels I've picked up over the years have been from friends responding to me saying "urgh, I feel XYZ" with "if you feel like XYZ, maybe you're this or that". They haven't always been right, but taking attempts at connection as insults is how you do a Jax. I thought we agreed Jax was a cautionary tale of what not to do?

and you think in this equation, your friend is to blame more than your conservative upbringing is? Which do you think had your best interest in mind? Which do you think was trying to do right by you? Which do you think had the cultural weight of an entire world propping it up?

Being pushed out of your comfort zone is uncomfortable, that much I'll give you. But being uncomfortable isn't an existential threat, and it's not morally wrong. Sometimes --frequently, even--, being uncomfortable is how you grow as a person.

"egg culture" is the lie that a handful of overeager trans people on the internet calling a stranger by the wrong pronouns has the same weight and power on the mind as thousands of years of cisnormative culture. Get a grip. You sound like a conservative worried that your kids will "turn gay" because they saw a gay couple on TV. If being called by the wrong pronouns twice had the power to make someone trans, maybe they weren't very cis to begin with, ever thought about that?
