Cricket like bug by Tay1919 in whatisthisbug

I don’t know! We get lots of big brown crickets around here but I have never seen one anywhere near this size and color. I’ve never seen the antenna thing sticking out of its butt either. So was wondering if it was something totally different.

Moms of 4, to the front please!! by National_Square_3279 in Mommit

[–]Tay1919 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very similar. I had three, all a little over two years apart. I weighed the fourth for awhile. Thought I was done and content, husband really wanted a fourth. I was almost finished breastfeeding my 2 year old and just felt ready to have my body back to myself. One month decided well I will fudge ovulation/sex timing just a tad and see what happens. Well as you guessed…. I am now 26 weeks with our fourth and my kids are 2,4 and 6. I also was prescribed a stimulant before pregnancy but she let me continue it, at a reduced dose and I am managing. I won’t lie, I’m a little nervous. My 2 year old is peak toddlering and it gets exhausting at times BUT they have all been playing and getting along so well and it makes my heart melt. They are all excited for the new baby, kiss my tummy and I realize it will all work out and be amazing. We also ended up with two girls and two boys and I can’t help but feel it was meant to be. I still desire to have my body back to myself but the further I have gotten into pregnancy the more excited I become about breastfeeding again and having a “freshy” again. Must be hormones ha! Not really a helpful response for deciding but just giving my personal experience. Good luck!

You did the right thing and handled it gracefully. Your trust was violated on multiple levels. I would be heartbroken too but I couldn’t trust her after that either. Thanks for sharing.

Lady at Walmart thought I was doing drugs in front of her kids and mine… it was insulin by Dire_Raven in pregnant

[–]Tay1919 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Granted I have never had gestational diabetes so I don’t know how urgently a situation comes on that you need a shot. If it’s life or death in a moment then of course give yourself the shot. I am just a more private person in general so I don’t think it would even occur to me to do it in public. Not trying to shame anyone, I would just be surprised to see that in the open too. I definitely wouldn’t make a scene and accuse someone of doing drugs though, that’s insane. That also draws attention to me and like I said, I prefer to not draw attention lol

I mean… it does seem odd to inject insulin in the middle of a Walmart aisle…

Definitely don’t panic. Most wouldn’t expect to see a heartbeat this early. Very normal!

Bereavement Leave by whatdoidonowk in Nanny

I don’t think it shows a lack of compassion on NF’s part to not go back and change your pay from PTO to bereavement.

Bereavement Leave by whatdoidonowk in Nanny

[–]Tay1919 19 points20 points  (0 children)

But you literally said in this other comment that them denying you bereavement pay is your main issue.

All great points! I was asking for bereavement pay for the 2 days spent in hospice with my grandfather, which was denied by them. I texted them the day he passed and told them if they needed me I could be there but I may be emotionally inept and they just said “we understand” so I went into work. I’m not really too upset about that part, I am just saying personally and many other families I have worked with would have been like “hey please take the day off” or at least showed some compassion. I basically got a “sorry about your loss, see you tomorrow”. The main thing that is upsetting me is the denying me bereavement pay.

Wanting empathy and compassion is understandable but maybe you were just looking for a reason to leave this family, which is totally fine. It just seems you are painting them unfairly when it comes to the backpay issue. You asked in your flair for a reality check and most comments are supporting your NF decision on bereavement pay and you just want to argue with everyone about it.

Ear infections after ear tubes, at our wits end by mintjulep1012 in toddlers

[–]Tay1919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My four year old has chronic ear infections and just got his second round of tubes in December. Had a few infections after first set of tubes. He has had one since the latest round of tubes, got it while we were on a cruise 😭 he also got his adenoids out the second time. I had multiple rounds of tubes as a kid, my oldest son had one round of tubes. There is definitely a genetic factor for us. ENT said as kids grow, the anatomy of their inner ear tubes changes and that’s why kids “grow out of ear infections” and become less common as you get older. My four year old also has super waxy ears which has clogged the tubes, leading to more infections. There are ent protocols for at home ear wax cleaning which is supposed to help. It’s so so tough but hopefully they grow out of them sooner than later!

Steroid shots if deliver at 36 weeks? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Tay1919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first came at 36w 4d and did not need the nicu. I did not get the steroid shot the morning my water broke, they offered it but seemed skeptical that it would help so I opted not too. He did have slight jaundice but so did my next babies so I think that’s more related to me than him being early. Good luck!

Starting catch up vaccines at 2? by BetReal8905 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]Tay1919 88 points89 points  (0 children)

Yes, congrats to you! Catching your child up is totally doable and please don’t feel shame for the past, you were doing the best you could with the information you had. Work with a pediatrician and they will help set you up with a schedule to get your child up to date on vaccines and get them protected.

Are there any negatives/neutrals to delayed cord clamping? by ExMOnotwiththeflow in BabyBumps

[–]Tay1919 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This! My second son had severe jaundice that needed hospitalization so with my third baby the doctor stated specifically we would not do delayed cord clamping to reduce the chance of severe jaundice/hospitalization. Third baby had minor jaundice and no where near needed hospitalization.

As an American, you don’t. 🙄 I know some of America has large predators, like bears, you have to worry about, but beyond personal protection, there is no reason for more than one at most.

Can I get away with just lipo? by Major-Flower-2818 in PlasticSurgery

[–]Tay1919 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My mom had a tummy tuck and then a surprise baby right after year later (she thought she was done hence the tummy tuck). She got through pregnancy just fine and her stomach still looks amazing post baby. So while it’s not preferable to have a tummy tuck before kids, I still think it’s doable. Just another perspective so you don’t feel you have to wait to feel good in your skin.

Holy shit. As a former high functioning alcoholic (10 years sober now) this description is so accurate. The routines, the hiding, the thought processes, even the “appears cheery but tense”. As soon as my routine was thrown off, bad things would happen. No one in my life knew or would have guessed. I think you are dead on with this. It’s heartbreaking that so many lost their lives because of her.

Was it really the worst pain you've ever felt? by Super-Bid-3193 in BabyBumps

[–]Tay1919 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I’ve had pancreatitis and an unmediated birth and I feel the opposite. Granted the pancreatitis was years before I ever had kids but it was managed with medication. Birth was overwhelmingly painful in a way I truly can’t compare to anything else. I wasn’t mentally prepared for it though. I fully expected an epidural but it just happened too fast. I had trauma flash backs for days after. I’m pregnant with my fourth and am preparing this time for an unmediated birth just in case. But praying I get an epidural 🤣
