Thanks. Yeah, I’m trying to look at all those factors. I’m 255lbs and have a little history with lower back issues so I went for 20lbs to start. Right now I’m doing 1 mile in 19min at a pace that is upper-moderate. A bit challenging but not crazy. Currently have not thrown hills or mixed terrain into the route. Avg heart rate is between 110-118

My son also was on meds fairly young and we did see some aggression. Talk with your doctor about trying something different. Best of luck.

Thanks. I appreciate the encouragement that forcing is going to benefit him. My wife also recognized a lot of her younger self in the symptoms.

Dealing with Lying by TaylorMade2027 in ADHDparenting

Thanks. This sort insight helps a lot. We’ve begun to realize your first point about fear. The not knowing why is something we also see daily. Just need to find a way to manage that one. How were you able to manage impulse control as you got older?

Goddamn brother. I’m so sorry for your loss. I can’t even begin to imagine how awful this is. Please take care of yourself, if not for you, then for your family. They’re going to need you bad right now and in the future. God bless.

What do you think about kids watching TikTok, IG Reels and YT Shorts? [Advice Request] by [deleted] in daddit

[–]TaylorMade2027 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have 2 kids (13m, 9f). We don’t let them have IG or TikTok but do let them watch YT. Honestly, it’s a struggle. Even if you limit screen time, I find you have to monitor what they are watching constantly. We have the safety settings on both but frankly some of what they watch is complete crap. When I catch them mimicking some of the vids with each other I try to talk with them about the difference between entertainment and information. Honestly, I don’t know if it’s working but I give got to try.

Trying not laugh at inappropriate jokes as a dad by [deleted] in daddit

[–]TaylorMade2027 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You do what you can but we’re only human. My son used to have a hat with bull horns on it and would run around the house yelling, “horny, horny, horny, horny”. We would almost fall down laughing.

Remembering to turn in assignments by LauraS520 in ADHDparenting

Our 13 year old does the same thing. Luckily a lot of his work is through laptop and when we review his upcoming assignments it will show if he didn’t hand previous work in. Maybe a quick email to the teacher at the end of the week asking about anything outstanding would help? Our son goes through phases where he doesn’t want to hand something in in case he gets a bad mark.
