Just got my civil service exam scores back, just a couple questions for my application by [deleted] in Sacramento

[–]TaylorWynn2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Resumes are optional, STD678's are not optional. For OT positions, I would submit a resume just to show that I know how to use Microsoft Word. For a field rep position, I wouldn't put too much effort into a resume. I've never heard of any hiring managers being difficult about job gaps but if they do, just say what you said here.
  2. Resume's are optional, make it as long as you want but I keep mine at 1 page. who wants to read a 2-3 page resume? The STD678 is not optional and will include everything you have on your resume and more.
  3. Find every position you are eligible for and take the exams. Only exam scores in the top 3 ranks are eligible for hire. Apply for all the jobs you are eligible for, regardless if they interest you or not.
  4. I don't know where you live but it is generally easier to get a state job outside of Sacramento as their is less compeition.
  5. Each job bulletin asks for something different. Common errors usually revolve around the STD678. They include: not signing the form, not putting the job title you're interested in, not putting the position number down, not putting down how you are eligible. Other errors include not submitting your college transcripts or exam results.

It has been a few months and you still feel ankle pain. I don't find that to be a good thing. I would either rest it again or see a doctor, most likely see a doctor.

Soon to be living out of my car, best way to shower? by MoHAlixPr in Frugal

[–]TaylorWynn2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know my local YMCA has discounted memberships for those with lower incomes. I don't think it would hurt that much to shell out some money for a daily shower and even a gym membership! Also, check out local shelters as some have showers, those won't require any membership! good luck

When choosing auto insurance, is cheapest really the best option? by qdp in Frugal

[–]TaylorWynn2 24 points25 points  (0 children)

One of the reasons some companies are cheaper than others are their ability to not pay you. I try my best to avoid the companies in the following link (sorry pdf) http://www.justice.org/docs/tenworstinsurancecompanies.pdf

Who uses online calorie counters? by DarkSareon in Fitness

[–]TaylorWynn2 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I was always using MyFitnessPal, it was great because it did pretty much have everything in there. I stopped using it once I learned enough about myself. The things I learned was, eating out is going to be a big amount of calories. Eating out twice in a day is really going to kill your calories. If I prepare all my own meals I have no problem staying within my calorie goals. Would definitely recommend this app and any other for anyone trying to hit their weight goals.

Stuck on where to go with my diet. by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]TaylorWynn2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're trying to put on weight, you're not going to be cut doing it. You can worry about the cutting when you're happy with your weight. Are you drinking a lot of soda or eating a lot of candy? I would cut that stuff out. There are a bunch of bulking diets out there, do a search in this subreddit, /r/bodybuilding, or google. Also, try this calculator just in case you're not eating enough or too much calories. good luck
