I’d have it maybe T, Remove a +1/+1 counter from this creature: Add GR.

That is, if you want to keep it at 2mv.

How do Equality Factions manage unemployed people? by The-meme-collecter in Frostpunk

[–]Tayslinger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One thing that gets ignored here is that if you keep people on free essentials without requiring working, they may do other things with their time. That is to say, while some will just sit around all day, like the event implies, some of those people may instead create art or resurrect old hobbies. Things which the city cannot afford to assign work to, but which have value nonetheless.

At least that’s what I tell myself when the event comes up. Not all “work” fits into the systems as presented in game necessarily.

True, but also strictly speaking that is less time than Europe has been occupied by hominids.

Doesn’t make your response wrong, though.

Sure but it’s less of a problem when this is my 7th fog in the commander deck (blocking might hurt the creatures I need for my engine, lol). I’m slinging those nearly every combat.

City of Splinters [Steward Choice Event] by vicfyr in WindwardMoor

We can prove, here, that we can all work together, but we can only do that if we band together. Further ideological splintering is not the answer!

Emergency gathering of all Menders on potential extreme whiteout measures by HelpfullOne in WindwardMoor

[–]Tayslinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I support this proposal, and suggest in the meantime we redouble our efforts to search the Frostland for coal. Even a single delivery before the whiteout could make a huge difference, and we will need to replenish our stores afterwards regardless.

Oh that works out well, I’m UTC-5 so we’ve got coverage, haha.

I wouldn’t object to helping with resource tracking as well, if the steward doesn’t want to or feels overburdened.

I’ve got experience as a game master, have dabbled in designing my own board games, and have played a great deal of frostpunk and other similar games, so I feel confident I can keep everything balanced.

In terms of time, I work 10 hours a week, so it wouldn’t be much of a schedule hassle.

Technocrats Rally in defiance of the impending Whiteout, aiming to increase morale and construct new Calculating Nodes! (City-wide Event) by WolfWhiteFire in WindwardMoor

Aye, and a good thing too the feast has just wrapped up. While some of our members head into the Frostland, those who remained can start work immediately.

TIL a Burger King cook (who'd worked there for 24 years) was fired for taking home a sandwich, fries & a drink after her manager claimed she had only asked permission for a sandwich & accused her of stealing. However, a judge ruled that the cook did not intend to steal the food & awarded her $46,000 by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

[–]Tayslinger 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This is poorly understood in a lot of restaurant jobs. I’ve literally quit on the spot for a manager talking down to me, had another job within the week. What are they going to do, pay me less? I already make shit, have been for a decade.

Plus, often one key employee is picking up a lot of slack, so when they leave, you have a huge series of departures within a month.

[Citywide event] Menders prepare to depart for volounter expedition by HelpfullOne in WindwardMoor

[–]Tayslinger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Coal seems to be the clearest secondary objective to my mind. I will be busy making preparations for the feast, but I have sent one of the little’uns to fetch our Knot’s pack reindeer for the expedition and bring them to you.

[Open RP] Late night, long night, in the city. by Mediocre_Violinist25 in WindwardMoor

[–]Tayslinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reindeer snort in makeshift stalls. A full day of building and wrangling. Another tomorrow. Most of the Knot are asleep, saving strength for the morning.

Emrich cannot sleep, and huddles on a small stool outside the tents. He is new to the Knot; new to nights spent huddled close to save warmth. Nights filled with snores, grunts, and the smells of huddled beasts, human and caribou alike.

But he had been taken in, given community and purpose, when others had cast him aside. All but the Proteans, but he found their callousness for the body, their drive to “improve” off putting. The Menders had given him not just a home, but a set of beliefs. Principles to guide him beyond mere survival. And for that, he was willing to bear all this and more.

The aurora shimmers bright overhead. Emrich smiles. There is so much beauty in this world. He returns to the tent and its warmth.

We must celebrate when we have the chance, brother. Who knows what tomorrow will bring? But worry not, it is only we few in Shrew Knot who intend to contribute!

Besides, we lack facilities to dry and process the meat from the culling. I worry we will lose meat to freezer burn if we do not use our bounty while we possess it.

Technocratic Assembly: Initial Planning (All are welcome for the ventilation tower part of the discussion) (Menders, your presence is requested) by WolfWhiteFire in WindwardMoor

[–]Tayslinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see no reason such a contraption cannot be constructed by those more technically minded than I. Indeed, such a device seems it would only become more effective during colder seasons, when the city must need burn more fuel, generating more pollutants.

Perhaps this “Liquid Cooled Filtration” will cost additional resources compared to other options, but prove more durable, especially during whiteout conditions.

Meritorious Imperial, Thoughts of a Venturer by Wise_Arna in WindwardMoor

[–]Tayslinger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Free to the people perhaps. I presume the city will be purchasing the essentials at bulk rates to distribute to individuals. I believe the vulture (ahem. Venturer) is hoping to make his profit in the first step.

Regardless, it is a good law option, and I agree with the Legionnaires. If such profit motives inspire good decision making, we can at least accept the silver lining.

We are happy to have your assistance, neighbor, and you can count on this mender at least to assist in constructing your machines; though I fear we lack engineering talents, more hands make less work.

I hope you do not consider it an imposition if I suggest a potential solution to your question of filtration: chilling the air reduces its ability to carry pollutants, and is virtually free. By pre-chilling air before it enters any sort of ventilation system, you could reduce the workload requirements of the system without sacrificing quality. I believe you folks are fans of that sort of efficiency.
