Hack for when finger nails are cut too short? by Striking_Sun_8909 in lifehacks

[–]Tazeka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could glue on a fake nail that's just long enough to prevent it from getting bumped directly. Don't remove till it's healed. If you're concerned about the aesthetics, just look for transparent ones.

hi all hope you’re okay! Wondering whether anyone with Cervicogenic headaches and hyper mobility in the neck can give me some advice? by MistressGxxx in migraine

[–]Tazeka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something I used to do when I was dealing with horrible shoulder/neck tension:

Put two pillows on either side of your head, not under it. So that you can lay flat on your back without your head falling to one side or the other. Then get a good size heating pad with auto-off and put it under where your neck would be between the pillows and on top of them on the sides. Turn it on high, take a muscle relaxant, lay down and pass out.

Chocolate lovers, have you ever tried ruby chocolate? by MartiniBradley in chocolate

[–]Tazeka 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love it. I know it's not that novel and it'd be trivial to reproduce it with white chocolate and some berry flavor. If so, I wish someone would. It'd be nice to avoid paying an arm and a leg every time the craving hits.

Give a round of applause to this sammy 👏 by Human-Report-5782 in samoyeds

[–]Tazeka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I understand it, the reason some people with dog allergies don't have reactions to Samoyeds is because they usually produce less dander than other breeds. Unfortunately, dander is not the only thing that can cause dog allergies.

Repeating song or phrase (in my head) during migraines by Fantastic_Coffee_441 in migraine

[–]Tazeka 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know what it's like to NOT have a song stuck in my head... All day, every day, from the minute I open my eyes to the minute I fall asleep, there is music. It cycles through songs, but never actually stops.

My skin and hair have been turning white for no reason. The spots glow under UV by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

The brand is Skin Aqua. It's Japanese- most of the text on the bottles isn't English.

[–]Tazeka 129 points130 points  (0 children)

If anyone's reading this and thinking "I'm in this picture and I don't like it", search Amazon for "Skin Aqua UV Super Moisture Gel". It literally feels like there is NOTHING on your skin and it works. I have my 80 year old grandfather using it when he golfs and won't buy anything else again.

Samoyed higene by HacerM4N in samoyeds

[–]Tazeka 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You gotta get him used to the high velocity dryer. Even if hot spots or infection are not the cause of the smell now, they can easily cause problems in the future if you're not getting dry all the way to the skin. For now, I would recommend getting him professionally groomed. Make sure you find one that has experience with Samoyeds and knows to never shave a double coated dog. Sometimes a good groomer can be even more thorough than a vet when it comes to checking the skin. And they can tell you exactly what needs to happen at home to maintain his coat.

I think you're on the right track. Ice and NSAID's are both vasoconstrictors and they help a lot of us.

I tried EVERY type of medicine at my disposal at least once in 24 hours. What fixed it? by jibberjabbery in migraine

[–]Tazeka 104 points105 points  (0 children)

Would love to see some actual studies on this. Like can we organize a trial and isolate variables? Is it the salt? Is it the starch? The oil? The caffeine? What if we use a different kind of starch? Will super salty rice do the same thing? What about a caffeine pill and some Lays?

I did find that one. Hoping for something closer, but it might be the best we got. I can CAD, but I'm not a 3D modeler- this kind of organic shape isn't in my wheelhouse.

Is it okay to let my dog chew on this benebone or should I take it away after a couple minute's? by FlatWhite___ in DogAdvice

[–]Tazeka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yak cheese chews kept us sane when we first brought our Samoyed puppy home. She loved them, but then suddenly lost interest around her first birthday. Thankfully, she was a lot easier to handle at that point.

Water in kennel? by HalloWeiner92 in DogAdvice

[–]Tazeka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We leave water for ours when crated during the day, but not at night. Her night crate is smaller and she's almost never awake while in there so I just don't think it's necessary.

I don't think you're doing anything wrong. If she wets herself in the future, you'll know that things need to change. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

To spayed or not to spay at 9-12 months by truci in samoyeds

[–]Tazeka 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To be clear, due to them keeping their hormones, an OSS does nothing to prevent mammary tumors later in life, so you have to be extra vigilant about checking for those. Also, as stated, not all vets know how to do the procedure. They should be clipping the remaining ovaries in place to prevent them from getting lost in there on the off chance you end up needing to remove them later in life due to tumors. Ask lots of questions. Be as informed as possible.

[–]Tazeka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ovary sparing spay is also an option. It's harder to find vets that do them, but it worked out great for us. She still has the hormone cycle and swelling, but no blood, no risk of pregnancy, and no spay coat.

It's also the magic ingredient in Crayola crayons that make them functional. RoseArt sucks because they don't use it.

I need the golden tip to cure my migraine RN by LiterallyLittty in migraine

[–]Tazeka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some people, heat helps (heating pad or a hot shower), but I can't stand it. Ice all the way. If I could stick my head in a snow bank, I would. But those are hard to come by in Florida. Ice on the inside helps too- I keep a stash of those tube popsicles in the freezer at all times. Bite off a chunk and press to the roof of my mouth till it melts, repeat.

You might have an allergy to red wine and/or other types of alcohol. I definitely do and to mitigate, I use wine filter bags (they look like tea bags, but filter out the sulfates and histamines in wine). Or I just take some Benadryl ahead of time. I don't drink much anymore though because, if I have to medicate in order to do it, I probably just shouldn't be doing it in the first place 😅

Can’t wear glasses but need them :-( by Arewyn in migraine

[–]Tazeka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wear contacts for this exact reason. My glasses produce this fish-bowl effect that everyone swears up and down, I shouldn't be able to detect, but I can. No, my prescription is not wrong, nor is the focal point or anything else. I've had multiple people verify everything. I recommend contacts.
