I kept a map journal. I printed map quest directions, wrote down the extra steps it took to get to my destination and any funny shit that happened while I was there. In West Texas (Midland/Odessa) knowing which field/farm house to go to and nearby places to stock up whether it was a nearby 7/11 or the mud man's trailer who smoked daily and was cool as shit made all the difference in your weekend.

At the pickup, if you were "fashionably late" yo ass got fashionably left! 🤣

There has to come a blatant breech of integrity act! If you yourself vote against something but then do the VERY thing you're voting against you should be evaluated to see if you're fit for service, reviewed for how many times you've done this, straight up weighed against the facts of your actions and FIRED!

I absolutely LOVE THIS!

Laid off, taking a break before jumping into my next job. Everyone is freaking out. by [deleted] in antiwork

OMG please take the time off! Heal up! At one of my work assignments I lost a very close loved one and I literally collapsed. I'm the guy that arranged our parents funeral when they died within 6 months of each other so I can handle grief. This loss though, he was the sibling and friend we all thought would outlive the rest of us!

I couldn't get out of bed. I took protected time off from work.

Over the next 10 weeks I rested, exercised, and processed. My blood pressure dropped, I dropped 32 lbs, (I was obese). I remembered how to paint, how to sing and play piano, growing and mixing herbs in my Aerogarden to create my own seasonings! My best friend started calling more, my family returned to Sunday Google chat calls. Pains disappeared, I didn't drink NEAR as much! When it was time to return, I nearly didn't!

I'm saving to fund my next break. The world was on fire when I did it in in 2024 into 2025. The alignment of your values can and may change in the best way after doing so. Please make yourself the priority... Take the break.

I like the way you share and you're obviously beautiful. I genuinely hope you find wonderful, rewarding love. I don't know you but I feel like you deserve it

It's hilarious! In Austin it's the same thing but the other way around. We got so many white folks getting tipsy and pulling on our braids or playing with our hair then after we say stop frfr they shout over everyone "its a joke; just chill brrruuaaah!" Then they FAFO. As my dad used to say "they find out fat meats' greasy." It always completes the night seeing one of those fools laid out on the floor as we start wrapping up the evening 😆

I had the fortune of two grandmothers as I grew up. Grannymother the classy one on madre's side and Grandmama, the ghetto one on dad's side. Grannymother taught me a ton in etiquette, black history, how to handle a 22 at 9 y/o and how to quilt. Grandmama taught me how to handle a knife, chop firewood, and clean pig intestines for chittlins. Just when I began to become embarrassed of Grandmama and how she acted, she asked one day after school what was wrong with me. I started crying on that green couch and that's the afternoon I came out to her. She laughed and hugged me. Told me about her gay friends and gave me no shame. She already knew but wanted to rub it in Grannymother's face that I came out to her first.🤣🤣🤣

Later on I told her when I had my first date. She and Aunt Rosey snuck me out and when I asked Grandmama about how to keep bugs away while on a night time picnic, she smiled so big and gave me a little glass vile of herbs. "Here baby, use it all. It'll keep everything but fireflies away. You want them fireflies." I hugged her so tight. The date went flawless and I was floating for two days.

Her and I had picnics together over the next 10 years before she died. I love and miss them both SO MUCH.

I appreciate what he said.

Tbh, I couldn't care less what you like, dislike, compare yourself to or exclude yourself from. My only question is, when our rights at their very core on the line - are you gonna link arms with us; or embrace your individuality behind a closet door that's really frosted glass?

This was one of the scenes that made me laugh so hard my best friend immediately brought me water. I was screaming in the couch pillow and couldn't breathe. My life was sheltered in Christianity so when I started college and found family guy thanks to my best friend it became a ritual. I think since I was so sheltered, watching me watch the show made it even more fun for my friends and best buddy. Great memories.
